AJ can be champion again

Not every 200lb pound plus fighter has the one-shot power Joshua possesses. Also, there’s certain things that can happen that a boxer has no control over, call it luck, x-factor, unforeseen…

Their opponent could have a bad training camp, poor advice in the corner, pull a hamstring when entering the ring, roll an ankle during the fight, get distracted by a loud trumpet going off in the crowd, other dramas in their lives which could play into their hands. These are all unforeseen, impossible to prepare for factors that can have drastic impacts on a boxing contest.

I picked Dubois to win but I didn’t expect it to end under 6 rounds. What if Joshua’s corner gave him different advice between rounds 4 and 5, maybe round 5 wouldn’t have played into the hands of Dubois the way it did.

 

It was a beatdown. If Dubois hadn't finished Joshua in the 5th, it would have been in the 6th or 7th. There was no coming back from where Joshua was at, regardless of what the corner had to say.

 

I'm not saying Joshua wasn't eventually going to get beat, there was a high probability a Dubois victory via KO was coming with the way the fight was unfolding.

I was trying to make a point of how luck and unforeseen factors play a role in the way a fight unfolds/concludes. Dubois had no control over what advice Joshua received in his corner between rounds 4 and 5, that advice played into Dubois hands and Dubois capitalised on it.

 

I agree in as much as it probably bought forward what seemed inevitable anyway.

 

Perhaps a couple of years ago yes but as far as I'm concerned (and going by what I can with my eyes), there's simply too much he needs to change and probably not enough time. Hiring the right coach might improve those odds somewhat and I'm not saying he shouldn't give it a shot as I think he's still an asset to the heavyweight division for the time being given his name and his record. Maybe we will see him fight for a belt once again but I don't see him winning that fight if it's against Usyk, Fury, Dubois etc. not without some divine intervention.

 

Nope.

I think he's done now as a serious elite world title contender fighter, he probably was anyway prior to fighting and getting smashed around the ring, and looking comprehensively out gunned, out classed and out desired by Dubois.

What's realisticly left of AJ, now, could possibly be border line pitiful....
