Saw that interview with Eddie last night, most of what he said seemed positive about Fury-AJ but he also seemed to be very subtly laying the groundwork for a future excuse as to why the fight didn't happened - 'Me and Anthony wanted the fight to happen for the fans and the good of the sport of boxing but the WBO threw a spanner in the works' etc. etc.
Eddie’s interview - brief calls already, over the last couple of weeks. Didn’t want to do too much and jinx it until after the fight. - all want the fight. - not a lot to agree, split is agreed. Just location and a few contractual issues with tv partners etc. - WBO situation, they want to be involved in the fight but in a difficult position because of obligation to Usyk. In ideal world Usyk needs to be happy. Needs a solution to make him happy or vacate the felt. - Eddie says fight can happen with no belts on the line.
In the past I would have thought so but he's got his dad everywhere he goes now quite literally dining out on the success of his son, a lot of which is down to Peter.
In this face off, the 6'5 Wallin says to Fury "you're not 6'9. How tall are you?", and Fury replies 6'7. From the horses mouth and clearly not 4 inches taller than wallin. He 100% is not 6'9. Tyson Fury shrinks down to Otto Wallin's size and pulls funny faces during face off - YouTube
AJ kind of quit against Ruiz, so if Hearn's doubting that Fury can "spark out" AJ, it doesn't really matter. I'd be more interested in whether AJ can take a beating and not quit, rather than whether a 270 pound professional boxer can spark another out. They can both spark each other out, I would think. That's heavyweight boxing.
All the HW's now exaggerate their height by a couple of inches, Lennox Lewis was the last top HW who was the height he was billed as (6'5). Klitschko brothers were the first to do this IIRC, thought it was fairly obvious when the supposedly 6'8 Vitali was fighting the legit 6'5 Lennox and their clearly wasn't more than an inch between them.
Vitali is a legitimate 6'7'' and I had never seen him billed as 6'8''. Lennox Lewis is, or was, 6'5'', yes. Here is Vitali with Lamar Odom, billed at 6'10''. Basketball players are measured in footwear, so he is more like 6'8.5". Vitali looks bang on 6'7'' with him despite a footwear disadvantage. https://www.boxinginsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/PT24934.jpg Wladimir most certainly exaggerated his height, but he also did claim 6'5'' many times, as opposed to the 6'6'' listing. He comically used the lifts in his shoes at weigh ins and press conferences quite often. It is true that so many of today's heavyweights exagerate their height. So many of them are 1"-2" over listed. Look at Pulev.
So true. I reckon Joshua 6”6, Fury 6”7, Whyte 6”1, Chisora 6”0, Joyce 6”6, Dubois 6”3, Povetkin 6”0, Ruiz 5”11 and so on.
You're not far off my estimations. If we're using fractions, mine would be as follows: Joshua 6'5.75", Fury 6'7.25", Whyte 6'2.25", Chisora 6'1", Joyce 6'6", Dubois 6'4.25", Povetkin 6'1", Ruiz 5'11.5". I've seen Whyte up close and was surprised by his height. Definitely not 6'4''. He claims 6'3'' but he's definitely a bit under that.
I am 6ft 3 and feel very small in height when standing next to Big Dave Price - TV actually makes him look smaller when it is usually the other way round.
David Price is a legitimate 6'8'', I think. He's close to it if not. He's definitely taller than Tyson Fury and he is also physically more imposing. The only time Price looked bad was when Coldwell needlessly fattened him up. I think once somebody is about 6'5'' they look really tall and Price would dwarf them.
