AJ is stopping Usyk

He is what he is - a boxing promoter. Historically some of the snakiest characters in existence, we're all familiar with the trope. Hearn hides behind humour and charisma but ultimately he can't change his nature.

 

Why would team Usyk knowingly bring a spy into their camp? They are either unconcerned about any information he could provide AJ or they want to feed him false information or they believe that sparring Bakole is so valuable that it supersedes any information he could give AJ (doubt). I'd also be worried that Bakole would try to damage Usyk in sparring in order to compromise him for AJ.

If it backfires then it's completely their fault.

 

I give Usyk's team more credit than that. These Eastern bloc guys (some of which were no doubt affiliated with K2) know all about the dirty tricks and cynical side of boxing.

 

Tbf I dont think fury/usyk is a particularly good spectacle. That fight could and very most likely will be a boring snooze fest that fury edges on points.. Another klit performance

It could be overconfidence then. Usyk and his team believe he's such a master that he can always outbox the opponent comfortably enough to avoid being robbed (even though the Briedis fight was close and even the Chisora and AJ fights were a bit too close for comfort with those 7-5 cards). In the same vein, maybe they believe that bringing Bakole into camp will not effect the outcome, especially as it didn't last time.

I also wouldn't overestimate how nice Usyk is. He went for the finish against Hunter when he didn't need to, surely enjoyed giving Huck a beating and sparking Bellew, warned AJ that he would "cause his star to fade out".

Usyk complained about the ring size against Chisora and the specifics of Chisora's gloves after the fight. Whether these criticisms were valid or not, this showed that Usyk and his team could not trust Hearn, especially when going up against A-side cash cow AJ rather than Chisora, who was regarded as a journeyman and a spent force. The 7-5 cards against Chisora were another strong indicator. I don't believe that they trust Hearn not to screw them over.

If Usyk has a very strong sense of destiny then perhaps that is why he is willing to tempt fate so much. Fury's words to Wlad just before their fight: "time to go to school, son" (what Creed said to Drago before he was pulverised and killed in the ring) gives off a similar vibe. Every time they come through something like that it strengthens their faith that God is with them and won't allow them to lose.

 

AJ was spotted in the early hours asking his hotel concierge how he would deal with the angles USKY brings. AJ is like a sponge the amount of knowledge he is absorbing.
