Aj is way too disrespected. Its sad

I’m just getting ready to call out the hypocrisy and double standards when AJ gets **** for facing mandatories Pulev and Usyk and Fury and Wilder will be choosing to fight against Kabayel and helenius

 

No he isnt, if anything he is dam well over-inflated by the media and fanboys. He gets his dues, well over the brim. Eddie has done a great job picking the right names at the right time. Pulev was just a tough pudding in there, that's the reality. It's smart, they have made millions ££ on the back of an inflated resume to con people, its brilliant its genius. They made a big hoha about the Wilder bout, bottom line is they avoided they bout back then, know Wilder is used goods they are talking tough. Fury fight wont happen, simple as. You think Eddie will risk his cash cow? Hell no.

I think when your promoter has it that you're being talked about as the best in the world from before you've even beaten anybody of note (before he even beat old Klitschko), then resentment begins to build naturally.
Particularly when there is a fighter in the very same country who is better and more proven having become the lineal HW champion prior to any of this....and the narrative of Matchroom is to basically pretend he doesn't exist or is nothing special....meanwhile constructing a personality for their fighter which they believe will convince the public (which is so clearly not authentic).

The world of the boxing casuals believe all of these lies and so again, the resentment of the hardcore grows.

AJ has since gone on to prove he is the real deal, take a loss and handle it well and show he is at least the second best out there after all (with Wilder taking a heavy beating in the same timeframe). So I think he is now a lot more respected by the actual boxing public than he once was.

But that resentment of everything that is fake about the sport and the feeling that he represents all of it, probably still lingers in many

 

Lol, have to agree, this whole fascination with personalities baffles me. It's boxing not a personality contest. Unless a boxer is a total scum bag, breaking the law, domestic abuse, doping violations etc, I couldn't care about a boxers personality.

I can't stand Hopkins, hate watching him being interviewed but he's my favourite boxer, Lewis too, every time he opens his mouth he makes me cringe, his commentary on fights is always awful, but he's my favourite heavyweight ever.

Plus the whole fake thing is laughable when you compare AJ to Wilder and Fury. Wilder's whole career has been one of smoke and mirrors, he's even created a fake Bronze bomber personality. Watch his old interviews and then watch him now, 2 totally different people, he's the epitome of fake.

Fury himself lies constantly, you never know if what he says is true, he's an honest fake I give you that, but does anyone really believe he gave away the Wilder purse to charity when he was pretty much broke? But ooh AJ's too polite, too media trained, not street enough. Utterly ridiculous and honestly who cares.

I agree with much of this.
AJ has proved himself more than a hype job and won two or three fights the doubters (myself included) didn't pick him to win. His flaws as a fighter are, and have always been, fairly obvious, and were very often flat denied until he lost, but he's good enough to have beaten some good fighters and only lost once. He deserves a lot of credit for winning all those fights.
i also believe he would stand a good chance to beat Fury, who is the only fighter I'd rate above him in the rankings. I'd make Fury the favourite but it's a 60-40 kind of thing in my eyes.

But the hype was so ridiculous early on, and STILL, even post-Ruiz, the Matchroom machine and the AJ fanatics are trying to re-ignite the ridiculous level of hype constantly.
He's always been a popular fighter but that doesn't equate to being a great one.

Beating 39-year-old Wlad era leftovers like Pulev and Povetkin and going 1-1 against Ruiz is not particularly impressive either. It's not harsh to say so. It's just a fact.

 

The fact that Nandrolone Fury took steroids should kill his entire resume, or at least put it into question. Also, fighting a string of bums and then beating Wilder, who was overrated himself, should not make Fury the best. Not at all. The Klitschko victory was almost 6 years ag . How long can he dine out on that eyesore of a fight?

 

As many others have said, he has a great resume.

But as a personality within boxing, he comes across as fake and very, very bland.

Although not the only one with a manufactured persona, he definitely paints the biggest target.
