I'm afraid Haye is done. I'd wish he was younger (like that Haye from Chisora fight). That would be great fight.
Fury went to war with Cunningham. Walked him down. He would not walk AJ down for 1 second. He'd fight him just as he fought Wlad...but Wlad actually has BETTER FEET than AJ! It might be even easier for Fury!
19th pro fight, & AJ acknowledged he is still work in progress, look at other HW champions of the past and the level of fighter they were facing in their 19th bouts, most were not facing a WK level fighter or anywhere near.
That shot from Cunningham will knock out Joshua, this is a guy who has been knocked out in the Amatuers, in sparring and knocked down against a 41 year old fighter
Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Vitali Klitschko, Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson were knocked out in the amateurs, so?.
True, i think it will be all about who lands first and makes the most of the opening and getting the guy out of there when hurt.
I think part of the reason his gas tanks were depleting was due to the psychological pressure dealing with Wlad's excellent defensive skills. Wlad was doing a lot of little things in there to make him miss or take the sting off his shots and AJ wasn't used to facing someone with such a high skill level. He usually finds it easy to connect clean with his shots but against Wlad it was much more difficult.
Marciano got decked by a 39 yr old light heavy (Moore) but in the case of both Rocky and Anthony it a case as Vince Lombardi said "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up".
Personally speaking to me AJ answered a great many questions tonight, he demonstrated that he has a solid chin.. he took Wlad's shots and although he went down, he recovered. If you chose to still believe his chin is suspect after that then, well I don't know what to tell ya. He demonstrated that he could fight on the back foot and that he has power in combinations.. he just put down Wlad THREE times in a fight.. a guy that has rarely been down. And that uppercut to win the fight would have put anyone down! You mention Wlad's age, but honestly.. picture that Wlad of tonight in against any of the top 20 HW's right now, he was still very very good and you can easily see him beating any of them. AJ is definitely not perfect, my feeling is he will struggle with very fast fighters, but in terms of his performance given he is still young.. he was tested and tested hard.. and came through it.
Assumed you were referring to AJ when mentioning getting decked by 41 yr old, hence me mentioning Rocky getting decked by The ol Mongoose. the Rock got up and won as did AJ, both decked by old fighters.
Completely agree OP. Fury beats Wlad with elite ring IQ and boxing ability, defeats him to the point where it was unexpected and almost embarrassing with very little chance with the bookies and fans. Yet the commentators said it was an ugly fight that Fury won? Why, because he didn't rely on one boxing gift? He knows he doesn't have huge power so took Wlads game away. Like a BOXER does. But then AJ comes along, throws all of 20 punches, catches Wlad and gasses. Gets dropped and is losing the fight up until the stoppage. Didn't look elite in struggling to defeat the recently defeated Wlad and then gets praise as if he's the next Mike Tyson? Why? Because he had a competitive fight that he managed to edge out the better boxer with his power? Do people hate Fury because of his personality or because he isn't a big puncher? He has more boxing ability than AJ but gets very very little praise in comparison? Some people man...I just don't understand.
