I think AJ has it bang on here If Wilder gets adjusted to the pace of the fight he wins so dont let him Its a risky strategy but the best one imo
I do think it would end in a KO, probably for Wilder (If they fought now not when he's an old man) but I think they would both be very respectful of each other's power and I could see it being quite cagey and dull up until somebody lands big.
I think Wilder is a dreadful matchup for AJ. He's a sitting duck if he boxes and moves and in a shootout, Wilder comes out on top for me. I can see Wilder folding him. I love the fight though. Love to see it.
If anyone can KO Wilder it's AJ, it's just avoiding those freakishly powerful swings that's the issue
A big stiff weightlifter with lead feet and a glass jaw is a tailor made home for that ancestral right hand. Barry Hearns and sons know it.
Lets see how often he throws that big right hand against a big strong unit outweighing him by 30 lbs that can hurt him back. One that doesnt need to go into its range to throw themselves. Fury knows. Joshua almost knows. Wilders own team knows.
Washington, breazeale both far too slow. If they pick a big man its a very slow big man. Ortiz reach was a good bit shorter than wilders. Wait till its a big guy that can hurt him.
Obviously I don’t like or particular rate Fury but this would be the more likely scenario I think. If Wilder loses to Fury and never fights Joshua his legacy is wrecked. He’s obviously not a failure but he’s basically David Tua in a weaker era who ducked his biggest fight.
Apparently Joshua doesn't bench that often, preferring pull ups to work his chest, shoulder and back muscles. That's honestly what he said in an article about his training regime, it was a couple of years back, probably around the same time that he was getting dropped by every sparring partner in the country, even the ones he never sparred with.
They eventually picked a decent fighter in ortiz. Regardless of his age ortiz is a pretty good fighter tbf. He was picked carefully tho. They knew after the scuba steve fight he wasn,t much good against a mover. His reach was shorter....meaning he,d have to walk into wilders range with slow feet to boot. Its a nightmare proposition. That changes when you dont need to do that tho. Or you can close that gap quickly. Wilder will need to become cautious against guys like joshua....we,ll see how brave he is when that happens. The few big men hes faced have been very slow on their feet. Their picking them like that. Shorter reached guys that cant close the gap well or a few big guys with slow feet. Theres other guys out there outwith fury and joshua that will give him problems. They,ve been avoiding certain styles tho.
I wonder if Fury beats Wilder then team AJ then continue to pursue the Wilder fight? Obviously I’d want to see the Joshua/Fury unification but I’d still love to see Joshua v Wilder even if both have a 1 in the L column, that’s the most exciting fight on paper.
