You guys really are the biggest bunch of whiny brats sometimes An English heavyweight world champion has announced a defense of his title to take place 2 months after winning the thing, which makes him more active than any P4P fighter around today and all you can do is bash the opponent. For a start he is 6 foot 7 An olympian Undeafted 15 out of 17 wins by KO Coming off a good win Ranked 19th in the world There is one more thing too............ A voluntary defence has to be against a top 15 ranked opponent. Look through the rankings and youll see, as my revious thread stated that there was 4 guys available. 3 of those guys were Wilders left overs. The other guy was Breazeale. So please tell me what you were expecting this fight to be?
Breazeale was awful in his last fight and is no better than Whyte. Although he does have the better victory out of himself and Joshua, with his defeat of Mansour.
It is exactly what we expect from Matchroom - an absolute 100/0 fight with absolutely zero chance of an upset. What do we expect for a World heavyweight Fight on Sky Pay per Poo - at least a 65/35 fight.
I was expecting someone like Brazeale, especially so close to AJ's title fight (not that it was either tiring or trying). It's not a bad defense and it will bring good money. His next iic, should be against the winner of Parker v Takam, which should be tougher, followed may be next year by winner of Pulev v Chisora or someone of similar standing. Not bad fights at all. Should he win all these, that would give him the confidence to go for a unification with Wilder or Fury.
I have a bridge for sale, London Bridge, are you interested? :think If you've seen Breazeale fight you wouldn't be so generous, the man is awful. Yes Breazeale went to the Olympics and lost, that means absolutely nothing for example Audley Harrison won a gold medal. I urge you to use YouTube and watch a few of fights in full, not highlight reels or KO videos but full fights and then come back and tell me you believe he is worthy of a title shot. There were a couple of far better options in my opinion, Joshua would have still been a huge favourite but they at least had a little bit of hope but Breazeale won't last longer than Martin.
4 guys available Breazeale and Stiverne the best 2 out of them Would you ratherhe just sit on his **** for 6 months or wait till January to fight Parker as a mando. Hes getting out, keeping busy, fighting litterally the best available opponent. It will be PPV but if you dont want to pay dont pay Nothing else to say
Missed the point entirely. I never questioned his status as title challenger. I clearly pointed out he was one of a very short list of options. Who else? Stiverne? Very similar levels really. Not that good Molina? Awful coming off a knockout of someone average after being down on the cards. Duhaupas? Pretty average, one decent win over Helenius
They didn't have much choice, unless they waited around for the pulev/chisora takam/parker results everyone apart from stiverne and breazeale were busy, stiverne priced himself out and duhaupas wanted more time so breazeale was the next choice. saying that though i do think this will be another short nights work for joshua, breazeale is there to be hit but also aint afraid to let his hands go, this will be bombs away for a round or two and breazeale will come off worse. will AJ defend against pulev or parker after this? i can see him going for that big winter showdown with fury.
Whilst Adamek isn't the fighter he once was and Molina and Duhaupas are recent Wilder victims they both bring alot more to the table than Breazeale. Breazeale was awful against Mansour, who himself is just a tough slugger. Both Molina victory over Adamek and Duhaupas victory over Helens is better than anything either AJ or Breazeale has done. Joshua needs rounds and if anything Duhaupas is the fighter to give him them.
Maybe I have missed the point, if I have then I apologise. Molina, Stiverne and Duhaupas are far better options than Breazeale in my opinion for a few reasons. They have more experience, they have fought for a world title, Stiverne was actually a world champion. At least we could have something to look at and compare, Wilder has fought them all, we could make comparisons. Breazeale is as untested as Joshua but looks way off Joshua's level, it's just Charles Martin part II.
Those stats mean nothing if you take into account his actual opposition and the fact that a 43 year old outboxed and dropped him before having to retire on his stool. It's a pathetic fight and will do nothing to further AJ's career. They could have at least put him up against someone with proven durability, like Duhaupas or Stiverne so he could get some rounds under his belt instead of another 2 round blowout against a man who has a bigger cup size than most ring girls.
Oh and Stiverne whilst nothing great is at least an ex champion who would be favoured to beat Breazeale if they fought
He might hold a belt but in my opinion he's still very much learning his trade. I think he's a overhyped, media machine but the lad's got massive potential. The Whyte fight was an honest assessment of where he is at and I think he needs challengers like Chisora and Price to continue his education. If he gets put in with a Fury, Wilder or even a David Haye he is going to get found out.
