Tennis is a better / more accurate analogy, since it's an individual sport. But only Roger Federer has shown unprecedented longevity and quality in his late 30's. Nobody else has. But this doesn't come as a surprise, since Federer is commonly accepted to be the greatest tennis player ever.

It is scientifically accepted that athletes in their late 30's decline in terms of athletic qualities compared to their teen years, early 20's, late 20's and early 30's. And even Olympics backs this idea up too!

Very rarely, if EVER do we see elite level success by athletes during their late 30's.

If Povetkin beats Joshua, then it becomes an indisputable fact that he would have had a better career than Mike Tyson. And even if he loses, an argument can be made that he still had a better career than Mike Tyson, although it'd be a lot closer.

We can't ignore the fact that Mike Tyson has had losses, particularly KO losses to multiple, less than stellar opposition. And he simply didn't sustain longevity and consistency at the top for long enough.

Whereas Povetkin would retire with 0 losses to non-elite opponents. And would have had a much more consistent career at the top level.

I usually value consistency more than anything else in sports. You could argue that Messi is better than Maradona because of CONSISTENCY!

I'd like to see Tyson, George Foreman and Joe Louis triple team AJ then move on and triple team Povetkin and put both of those lacklustre ****ers out of commission. Am I the only one who has 0 interest in AJ vs Povetkin? I want neither of them to fight at all let alone win...I'm expecting one hell of a stinker
