Well I mean, when you consider that about 10000 other PPV's have been announced since the AJ-Povetkin announcement, no wonder there is no buzz. How all these darn PPV's are going to sell I have no idea.

I look and Warrington-Frampton and Usyk-Bellew and I think 'How the hell do these fit in'...

Anyways, I think one of the big reasons there isn't as much of a buzz is because there isn't really anything of value for AJ to really chase after in this fight. The Klitschko fight was huge because it was Klitschko. The takam fight was huge because of all the hype surrounding Joshua after his Klitschko win. The Parker fight was huge because it was a unification.

There is no momentum coming off the Parker fight because people were let down by the quality of it. There's no belts in this fight for AJ to chase. Povetkin is also russian, and I'm sure that doesn't help in times when the UK pretty much hate Russia.

The klitschko momentum is over pretty much. Joshua has reached the peak for now until he fights the Wilder-Fury winner.

well look at it this way:

AJ vs Povetkin will still generate a **** load more revenue than Wilder vs Fury when the smoke clears.

Look at all those 'fans' that welcomed Wilder to Belfast jumping to his aid....

    Never mind.

Beat up by a bit of chicken, then drowned by a bit of beer........

Who would've dared do that to Iron Mike?

It's one of those that will gather pace in fight week.

It doesn't help that the pair of them have zero personality (well povetkin might but we'll never know)

It's #1 vs #3 in the division, if you aren't looking forward to it you can't call yourself a real fan.

You're not Joshing, are you ?

I guess it depends on your P.O.V. (Point of View).

It's definitely been overshadowed by the possible Wilder/Fury match up, that's drawing most of the media's interest right now. Fury and Wilder are much more interesting characters than AJ and Povetkin who are vanilla in comparison.

But the fights still a month away the Matchroom promotional machine is still yet kick into overdrive. I'm sure we'll see growing interest a couple of weeks before when we see the gloves off and we see countless promos on Sky.

The build up to this fight has been relatively boring in comparison to the build up of Joshua/Parker and Wilder/Fury, it was all pretty much signed and sealed very quickly, no chickens were thrown in the build up, no claims of china chins or ducking so I don't expect the same level of hype as some other Joshua fights. But I still expect the fight to be sold out and the PPV numbers to be very robust.

They should really push the UK/Russia angle as Anglo/Russian relations are pretty dire at the moment but I suspect neither side will go there and try to get embroiled in the politics of this beef.

If Fury was fighting Povetkin he'd probably show up to the press conference in a biohazard suit holding a geiger counter lol.

I do feel like AJ has been hurt a little for the failure of the Parker fight to produce any real fireworks, up until then the casual fans that I know would be talking about his next fight as soon as it was announced, there's definitely less of a buzz about him now

Should be a decent enough fight, obviously not the fight we wanted but could be worse
