I just think with McCracken, AJ has reached his limit and for him to reach his potential, he needs to be with a different coach.
"He is gonna have to defend his titles against myself." Lol. AJ you aren't good enough to talk of yourself in the first person like it's a foregone conclusion. Pretentious twat.
Case in point, this delicate little nancy-boy Hurd: This content is protected A trainer isn't going to fix what's the matter with Hurd at this stage of the game, and likewise no trainer out there is going to make Joshua better equipped to handle the style of a Ruiz. Beyond a certain point the fighter himself needs to bear a certain brunt of accountability, on a given night you either do have the mental fortitude to combat a tough stylistic match-up and persevere (and triumph) in the face of adversity...or you don't. The identity of the man holding the water bottle and yapping in your ear during the minute breaks can't alter that.
A trainer insistent on developing a more cautious style that utilizes his height and jab more, focuses on using his size and strength to clinch in close (go look how many times a wlad clinch would have nullified a lot of what Ruiz was doing) and not trying to be tyson and throwing 2, 3, 4 double sided hooks in a row, and slowly ingrain that into his style, would go a long ways at making him more effective against the likes of Ruiz. As cliche as it is at this point, its simply very similar to Wlad and Manny. So I dont agree that a new trainer couldnt help him handle Ruiz better.
i agree. heck, theres things i see that even i could fix. and thats what worries me. i dont know if his team was not aware some basic things needed fixing, or aj just forgot those tools in the heat of battle, but the ingredients for him to be undisputed hw champion, are there. keep your team but bring in a top trainer to assist. spend the money, this is the biggest fight of whats left of your career. it will benefit you and your trainer. you get a lab with a top handler.
He was staying long and fighting off the jab in the first two rounds (I had him winning the second) though. Maybe AJ was told to stay long and decided to recklessly trade in round 3 against his trainers wishes and didn't ever recover from that personal mistake. I mean I didn't hear what his corner was saying so I dunno but part of the game plan is the athlete being headstrong enough to perform it.
