AJ went on to explain that 'People are saying I ain`t nothing lie Riddick Bowe, so who am I to go undefeated?' Would AJ have lost to the opponents that Bowe lost to?
I'm not sure what the allusion to Riddick Bowe is about, I might be missing some context since it doesn't make sense. That said, its good that he's realistic about the possibility of losing, perhaps in the future. While he is an awesome fighter with great tools, his last four fights have shown that he is a work in progress. The vulnerability he showed against Klitschko was generally excused because of Klitschko's caliber, but with his subsequent fights its clear he is a work in progress. He looked unimaginative at times against the limited Takam. Against Parker he gave a respectable account but was far from sensational, and clearly he showed some major holes. With the acknowledgement that he is in fact mortal, AJ shows that he is down to earth and ready to continue learning. None of this is a slight against Johnson. I think he's terrific and he has the potential to cement his IBHOF credentials before he turns thirty.
Shouldn’t we be waiting until AJ retires before we start talking about him in the “ Classic “ section. Just a thought, cheers.
Agree ...lines seem to be getting blurred recently especially when talking about current unproven Heavyweights
Well Bowe only officially lost to one person and that's Holy in the fan man fight .I'd say AJ loses to the real Deal that night .
Yes, he has had 22 fights. Whilefans and the public at large will not soon forget where they were when they heard the news when he beat Takam, let’s take a breath before putting his plaque up in Canastota.
Riddick Bowe didn't lose to opponents...he lost to Holyfiled . Joshua would not have got beat up by Golota ,one can make a case for Holyfield giving Joshua troubles but I don't see Holyfield winning bc I think Joshua throws shorter shots and can fight better at long range than a Bowe ,is faster and a true power puncher.. Joshua himself is a counter puncher ,and Holyfield lost twice to Bowe when Bowe was more focused...Joshua does not lose focus and is a 100% of the time athlete not a lazy guy ,if one guy above 230 fought better on the inside then Bowe its Joshua. It wouldn't shock me one bit if he went undefeated bc hes not even in his prime yet ,and I know the one guy most capable of defeating him whos about 3 years away ( this will be a crazy fight if it pans out) and a bunch that should fall short in the stacked division( yes its stacked) and will be moreso in 3 years. No one ever goes undefeated at HW IF they continue long enough or keep fighting top level guys...Joshua could be the first..it wont be shocking at all.
