I am pretty sure I watched the fight, I stayed up all night to watch it, and didn't sleep till 5 hours after the fight. I watch the fight very closely. The video I shared shows exactly the moment that is in dispute. AJ said he would continue while the ref was still counting, and then he waived it off. Don't reach for something that did not happen, and do not make stupid accusations that he quit.
I think the stoppage was more than fair. It could have actually been stopped sooner and it wouldn't have been a premature stoppage IMO. I do have to disagree with the posts claiming Joshua showed no heart. It was pretty clear and evident that Joshua's legs were pretty much gone from the 3rd round on and he continued to get up and continue to fight for 4 more rounds. That is all you can ask from any fighter. Big props to Ruiz also, it looks as if he will give any heavyweight fighter he fights all they can handle.
There is a difference, for Tyson the gumshield came off as he went down. AJ deliberately spat it out to desperately buy more time for himself. He even admitted using the same tactic against Wlad and then boasted about it in later interviews. Too bad his opponent this time was in his prime, fresh, had fast hands and two handed
Tyson did everything he could to continue. Joshua clearly was looking for help he hardly even disputed the stoppage. Disgraceful display by a champion
Pretty rich a guy who requests others not to question fighters hearts and then posts a video about Tyson Douglas trying to imply that Tyson quit against Douglas
But that's not what I did, I merely used Tyson as an example of a fighter that spat his gumshield out when he got knocked down, it happens... you need to breath, your mind is in all sorts of disorientation... it has jack **** to do with heart. If i hit you in the balls you wouldnt be able to speak or react for a while, and you would spit food out of your mouth. Tyson has plenty of heart, like AJ, they both spat their gumshields out and it MEANS JACK ****.
But Tyson did not deliberately spit out his gumshield, it came out of his mouth as he got knocked down in the 10th round. He even made an effort to pick it up and put it back in his mouth, a move which many experts criticized as they felt it cost him an extra 3-4 seconds. AJ in contrast deliberately spat out his mouth piece to buy more time for himself, he has even admitted doing it deliberately in the fight against Wlad in many interviews later on and boasted about the tactic being masterful.
He's not implying Tyson quit, he's saying when you're hurt and gassed your natural instinct is too spit your mouth piece out to try and get your breath, your bearings and not to mention completely disoriented. It's not like it's comfortable when you're gasping for breath and hurt badly. It happens all the time. I know it's a different situation because Tyson's came out on the way down, but I get what he's saying.
You are tellling me that AJ deliberately spat out his gumshield?? How the hell do you know that? Are you a mind reader? Seriously man, you got mental problems.
Ofcourse, you can tell, the commentators acknowledged it. AJ has tried the same tactic against Wlad and even acknowledged it many times in interviews following that bout boasting about the tactic buying him time
Maybe you were sleeping at that moment. The video you showed does not show the full sequence of events. Those of us that actually watched the fight know what really happened. Try posting an uncut video.
I don't even know what you are trying to argue. The original argument was - "AJ refused to listen to the referee, didn't wanna be in there anymore and quit. Correct stoppage.." I said: He was leaning on the ropes with his arms on the ropes looking at the referee in the eye and saying I am ready to continue. The video I shared proves this at the timestamps: 0:50 to 0:53 seconds Maybe you are the one sleeping. Here it is again: This content is protected Couldn't care less what happened in the seconds before that, if he turned around or his gumshield fell out... all of that is irrelevant as he looked the referee in the eyes while the ref was still counting and answers YES to continuing.
I saw it too, he was told to get off the ropes and disobeyed. There was even a clear awkward moment when the ref is waiting for him to respond and AJ just stood there, forcing the ref to waive it.
I know people think AJ is robotic, but he isn't an ACTUAL ****ING ROBOT, HE IS STILL A HUMAN BEING. If he gets knocked down, he is going to be dazed and trying to bring himself together, if his gumshield falls out, or he doesn't pay attention to every word the referee says GUESS ****ING WHAT?????????? IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY AND REFEREES ACCEPT IT AND REPEAT INSTRUCTIONS IDIOTA'S
