If you keep selling the exact same thing time and time again. People get bored.

The reality is 60k for a fight is still ludicrously good. But some sort of change up would be good

I thoroughly enjoyed the Fury/Klitschko fight. Watching such a young heavyweight go to Germany against all the odds and completely immobilise the attack of an all time great with excellent, slick, head movement and footwork was fantastic viewing in my opinion.

Fury is the slickest heavyweight we've seen since James Toney. Saying otherwise is only hating. Watch the Hammer fight, his slick skills are tremendous in that fight. Even in his latest comeback fight, Fury was in the corner, both hands on the ropes, dodging a barrage of punches from Pianetta by just moving his head. If that's not slick, I don't know what is.

Announcing the fight date at Wembley in April was probably a huge Own Goal also.

Watching 2 ants fight at monster prices in a huge stadium is a one off poor value experience for most people.

Unlike the PPV cohort, the people quickly realise that stadiums are mainly a compete waste of space for viewing live boxing (except the 4 figure ticket prices for the inner ringside area), they learn the lesson and don't return in increasing numbers.

Eh Day has milked the stadiums dry with very poor opponents in Toothless Takam and Paint Dry Parker so only a genuine 50/50 superfight will sell now. The fans came away bored to tears following both fights.

Unless it is Wilder or Fury next at Wembley, the top tier and most of the middle tier will be closed.

Went to Frampton card in Belfast a few weeks ago. Windsor park is a small enough football stadium, with a capacity of around 20,000. I had half decent seats that cost me just over €100.

As someone who went to watch the boxing and not just enjoy the atmosphere, it was definitely a disappointment. I couldn't see whether shots were landing or not and just watched it on a screen, thinking I might as well be at home, watching on a HD telly, with a nice bottle of vodka and commentary.

I wouldn't go to boxing in a football stadium again. And that was Windsor park, not Wembley.

I may have missed something but where has it actually said only 50,000 or 60,000 have been sold? The last I saw it was 80,000 with additional tickets remaining

Its not the Voltarol advert pal,its boxing....Instead of putting both hands on ropes dodging punches off some complete bum how about taking your hands off the ropes and knocking the guy over?

    Football stadiums are for football...!!

Boxing does not transfer over into stadiums ,you need high seating and a roof.....I would never do a stadium fight again and i hate free tickets...

If you are lucky you might get a decent view on a big screen which begs the question ,why not watch it at home/pub?

Football season has started. Loads of PPV's this year already.

Plus Eddie loves a pound note and his prices are crazy.

Result - loads of seats left.

    And its storm season :).

It is a very quiet build up, if Povetkin causes the upset you can hear fast car telling the however many thousands, "I told him to vacate but he wouldn't listen" by the way we did great numbers and thanks for turning out, enjoy your rain soaked kebabs mugs!!!

I get that but the problem is when you have a fighter who can sell double of an arena easily and even more than treble the size of an arena capacity what can you do?

Selling 20,000 tickets when you can sell thousand and thousands of more would be gross negligence.

Arenas a re not big enough for AJ

20,000 is big enough for any boxing bout - it is absolute greed driving boxing to stadiums and PPVs

Watching football at Wembley in the higher seats is bad enough so can’t imagine watching 2 dots bouncing off each other gonna be like. I agree it’s just greed and a smaller ground would be better for the fans. Can't blame anyone apart from the mugs paying to be honest.
