Hughie Fury has already turned the fight down with Joshua. They don't want to go anywhere near him. Don't blame them, Joshua would KO him with ease.
Hughie Fury when offered the fight was already contracted to fight someone else. Peter Fury made it clear give us a full camp and we can do the fight.
Hughie is being built up to annex any of the belts Tyson doesn't hold. Hes being almost alternatly tested and then put in with someone to get him some pocket money. Doesn't expect a decent 50/50 fight until he be put in for an eliminator for which ever belt Tyson doesn't hold.
Not true. Peter lied and say they had an agreement in place with a fighter when they didn't. They ended up fighting Guinn instead. They were already in camp, so that's not an excuse either. Peter has history for announcing fights are signed when they're not. You should never believe a word out of the blokes mouth.
I loathe alphabet rubbish as much as anyone, but it does not mean much. The alphabet title gets the fighter publicity, it makes them more valuable a commodity, it makes them a better fighter in the general public's point of view. Yes we as the 'true' fancy who know more than the layman and can see through this some if not most of the time, but it does not really matter to the fighter or the management, we are going to do what we are going to do (buying the fight wise), they have little or no influence on that. But the evidence suggests that winning an alphabet title does increase worth, make you more valuable and higher rated.
Its a 50/50 for me.....but peter fury is a hell of a trainer..mentor to both of them.....he is the best and most honest person in boxing at the moment.....
I want AJ to do well, I want him to claim all the belts and become a great champion...but up to now, he's been spoon fed challengers who Hearn knows will get sparked out in a few rounds. I don't blame Hearn for doing this of course, he's excellent at what he does. The way he's handling AJ seems so reminiscent of the way his Dad handled Steve Davis, and made him very palatable to the parts of the public who had no real interest in snooker. The likes of Hughie, Tyson and BJS are never going to be as appealing to the public but we shouldn't disregard their skills in the ring because of that.
I do not see the Davis parallel. Steve Davis was the snooker bad guy, people did not like him in the early/mid 80s. Higgins and White were the heroes. It was not until Spitting Image started the Steve 'Interesting' Davis gimmick and Davis started to be beaten a bit more often that the crowd started to get on his side.
Snooker was a proper working class game in the days before Davis, with players drinking and smoking. Hearn got Davis to play massively on his clean cut image, a nice boy image that would appeal to people who wouldn't normally watch the game. If anyone hated Davis, it was the purists who enjoyed the more entertaining, off the cuff players. Eddie Hearn IMO is trying to do the same with AJ with the clean cut image with no vices etc. I'm not saying I'm definitely right, just an opinion mate
hughie is not an easy fight for aj, hughie has good defence great movement, i'd say hughie would box aj's head off
Colour TV and Pot Black started the snooker revolution. Davis did have a significant part and although a bit of a 'national treasure' now, was in his pomp the villain of the piece, the player everyone wanted to see lose, because it rarely did...
