AJ v Fury is not going to happen!

Well, there's almost certainly an element of frustration on Fury's part in how long this fight is taking to be finalized. He probably is playing down the possibility of an "imminent announcement" because he is genuinely not 100% convinced that this will go through.
The promoters are saying "everything agreed" but in the next breath suggest "location" is undecided.

I don't think Fury is worried about losing or excuses.

The interview he did in the studio he seemed very happy and looked very fit, and he was making them laugh with his comments about 12 pints of beer. It's all jokes.

There's really no doubt now that Fury and AJ both want this fight next.
It's the promoters who might be lying.

 

If Fury gets in the ring, he'll do so believing he will win.

 

Well, let's see if those comments come out or not if he loses.

He doesn't seem to be joking to me, but he's a strange one so who knows. But by god the man is full of ****. Talking about how he's been everywhere looking for challenges.... He's managed to face two ranked fighters plus Chisora and Wallin ffs. What places has he been looking in precisely?

 

A bit uncharitable.

Chisora, Cunnigham, Johnson, Hammer and I think even Wallin were all ranked when he faced them. He has had long periods of inaction, and fights (such as Haye) fall though, but his record is not as bad as is made out.

 

There's a thread about it in Classic and only Wlad and Wilder were ranked according to Hhascup, and that guy has really done his research.

To clarify, I meant ranked by The Ring, in the last monthly rating before the fight.

 

Yeah, he talks rubbish.
Still, he has defeated Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder (twice really) in their own homeground, so he deserves respect.
Very very few people picked him to beat Wlad, most people thought he'd lost to Wilder the first time, many thought it was suicidal to get in the ring with Wilder so soon after coming back from obesity and lay-off, and very very few picked him to defeat Wilder in the fashion he did in the second fight. So, that's worthy of some respect.
Currently he's the best of a poor crop.

 

He does deserve respect for those wins. And maybe he's the best of this generation. I'll reserve definite judgement on that until he fights AJ (if it happens at a relevant time).

To me he looks to have ATG talent, and while he's a bit tiresome in the same way Zlatan is I don't really care about that as long as he makes the relevant fights. That he's 32 now and has been a pro for as long as he has and still only faced two really relevant opponents is a let down, though, especially since he seems like he can pack it in at any given moment. That's what frustrates me with him.
