I think AJ's resume is still the best in the business though. Being old doesn't mean bad.

The Povetkin who fought AJ I think would beat Whyte most times. Wladmir 41 would be #3.

Plus he also got a good win over Parker winning almost every round vs a good boxer.

And he beat Dillian, albeit a lesser Dillian, but I see no reason why it would be a different outcome.

I also think he'd beat Ruiz 9/10. And also his style is all wrong for Wilder IMO.

No offence, but when someone says X is ‘all wrong’ for Y I usually switch off unless they expand. It’s usually just a jargon term people use to sound informed.

Please can you expand? I don’t see it myself. His movement is far worse than Fury so I’m not sure he’d be able to evade those bombs as easily. He is physically stronger than Wilder though so that could be a big advantage.

It's the fact that as soon as you get up close to Wilder, he has nothing. If you start bombarding him close range he has no defence besides a decent chin. He doesn't have a range of punches to counter a close assault. Wilder has to keep you at range.

Wilder is vulnerable up close, and will be incredibly unequipped to deal with an AJ combination. I literally think it could be over within a single assault by AJ.

AJ's variety of punches and up close power will be too hard for Wilder to deal with. I see AJ KOing him in rounds 1-3.

AJ may not be the quickest in terms of head movement, but he's not THAT slow.

That he is the only one trying.

Fury has 3/4 different promoters, what are they doing?

Why don't you call Bob Arum and ask him ?
You're assuming they are doing nothing. There's no good reason to believe that. It is only because Eddie Hearn has been saying that he's the only one doing anything.

Thanks, good response. Lots I agree with. When I say movement I don’t exclusively mean head movement - I also mean judging of distance and footwork. I’m not convinced AJ could do that as effectively as Fury.

For example, I know he was old and a bit shot, but Luis Ortiz has decent movement and is a better ‘natural’ boxer than AJ imo. That encompasses everything from positioning to judging of distance. Wilder got to him eventually, although fitness played a part. I think the same would happen with AJ unless he was able to KO Wilder early.

I think the difference is unfortunately Ortiz didn't have the power to finish wilder off.

My favourite one is 'styles make fights'. Noticed Bellew uses it a lot, usually when he's being awfully biased. Translates as I have no actual reason I believe X beats Y so I'll try and sound ahead of the game.

I don’t think either side wants it yet due to the virus situation but are having to put up a front pretending they do. They ain’t getting 100 million each without fans. If they really want it now they’d take less money but they won’t. They both want this widely accepted figure of 100 million.

True. Far too old and far too slow. I suppose the point I am trying to make is that Wilder has the ability to finish off far better fighters - and it takes skill to be able to beat him. The caveat is we don't know what Wilder has left now after Fury 2 and over a year out the ring in his mid 30s.

Oh yes that's a classic. 'Styles make fights' and 'all wrong' are perfect to use because they are quite hard to argue against as it often goes unchallenged. To VB's credit he has come back with a proper response with some fair points but it's such a lazy cliche usually used by people trying to sound informed.

All this bickering over rumours and speculation seems pointless to me, there's very little clear info about what's going on in the negotiations and even some of what does get made public you need to take with a pinch of salt, could be mind games from either side but especially Fury.
Fury certainly isn't afraid of AJ and I don't believe AJ is ducking anyone he did after all want the Wilder fight not long ago, it was DW that priced himself out. If anyone is hesitant it's Eddie, AJ is the golden goose, if he loses badly that's the foundations of his empire in ruins.

AJ doesn't have the best resumè in the business, that's just nonsense.
