But he's cleaned out the top 10, more or less. And Tyson's wasn't? Wallin, Schwarz, and whatever other Cruiser was in there. I thought Parker might beat him.
I think, again, we’re debating two different points. You’re talking solely from a commercial POV, I’m talking legacy and CV. I completely get where you’re coming from - and if you’re a promoter of course you’d protect your asset. But it’s far less impressive than winning away. Of course, you could argue that there’s no one at HW who could be a genuine ‘away’ opponent for Joshua. If Fury wasn’t British that would be different, but aside from him there’s no one with the profile. I think the exception would’ve been if Joshua had fought Wilder on a PBC event back in 2018 or fought Klitschko in Germany as Fury did in 2017.
Very carefully managed with all fights very low risk of defeat except the Wembley fight against the 41 year old Klit who had been inactive for 18 months. Amazed that most people don't see through it all and hand over their money to the PPV Highwaymen.
You said "one" just a few minutes ago. By the time I've had lunch today he might have three or four !
Such as? Tyson NEEDED to go to Germany, and he needed to travel to fight Wilder. Tyson may go after the top man, but he's only done it twice in 13+ years and never defended the straps against the best opposition. He plays a very smart game, but ultimately struggles when he's not an underdog, hence him falling apart when he does win a big fight.
Josh Taylor does not waste time on puddings, has fought increasingly difficult opponents and gets in with the best without all this tripe about money, location or fear of defeat. A real fighting man who puts glory in the ring at the forefront of his thoughts. Pity the Heavyweights only care about money.
Wilder, Wilder 2, Klitschko, Chisora 1 (relative to the time), Haye* - all of those were risks. Obviously the Haye fight fell through of course but that wasn’t his doing. Actually it would be fair to include Ruiz 2 as a bit of a risk from AJ, but he had to do it. Good performance though considering the pressure.
No problem - if you want to block someone over a different of opinion then be my guest! Chisora was the favourite for that first fight with many bookies.
