The fact that Joshua's tweet (ONE offer) contradicts Fury's whole list of offers is neither here nor there (because Fury's not exactly known for his accuracy or reliability) , but the fact that Joshua even says "Matchroom" has received ONE offer seems to completely contradict Eddie Hearn's spiel over the last few days. I'd believe Joshua over Hearn, and one offer doesn't exactly instill confidence. Meanwhile, it's quite likely than Arum could have put this on in 'Vegas for realistic huge paydays for both fighters, but Hearn's been talking up even bigger sums which we fear might be unrealistic. But which have inflated the expectations of both fighters. I hope they pull it off but it's still looking very shaky to me. These oil-rich Arabs and Asian billionnaires love to throw their money around but won't be taken for complete mugs.
One offer? Must be that mega rich guy who wants to host every big boxing fight. Seems to be a lot of nonsense, Hearn says 4 offers, Fury listed about 6 and now AJ says 1. These guys just need to be quiet now and either announce it or move on. Its very very boring.
Likely one offer backed by in place financing, with several declaration of interest alongside. I am not paying Much attention to the noises from each party, they may be deliberately releasing conflicting accounts to fuel the buzz around the fight.
A few days ago it was FOUR "strong offers". After months of hard work from Eddie, four strong offers turns into 1 offer overnight, 3 strong offers disappear into thin air overnight ........... meanwhile Tyson Fury, who claimed he'd never had any offer for anything on this fight, came out a couple of days ago listing 5 or 6 "good offers" he'd just received, including the very far-fetched Uzebekistan offer. Joshua's version sounds more legit. And he hasn't even called it a good offer.
And remember, this fight was said to be ALL AGREED last summer, when Daniel Kinahan was involved. Then since January this year it's been constant, "a deal is close", "we're getting a lot of interest", "there are some strong offers". It's a joke really. Bored of it now.
The thing is, it’s not them two. I reckon them two are mostly agreed but then you need to satisfy, Matchroom, Top Rank, MTK, Sky, ESPN, DAZN?, and god knows who else. Even the Saudi’s. I can’t imagine them saying yeah we will put up eleventy trillion dollars to host it but we can’t have any fans coming over and filling the stadium. It’s more likely to happen in November/December IMO when hopefully COVID has faded a bit and people can travel and a site can have (full or some) capacities. But if Joshua has to face Usyk in the mean time there’s a strong possibility he will no longer be champion. So the undisputed is gone - which again could be another obstacle.
I think it happens personally. Too much money not to and promoters are glad Wembley is off the table as more money in UAE region
