Usyk can do what he did to Dosh then it should be enough barring a robbery. Bear in mind Fury looked washed vs Ngannou. That is isn't getting fixed for Feb or ever probably. Fury was as bad against Ngannou as Wilder was against Parker. Both more washed than a pair of West Point dress whites.
Usyk is also older and more worn than he was in 2022 or 2021 and Fury has different attributes to Joshua. For one thing, past evidence says that Fury will go for it more than Joshua did, whether that's enough or not.
Okolie was terrible, every fight was Wlad-Povetkin. But I thoroughly enjoyed CBS-Okolie, despite its messy nature and an all time record number of clinches. Seeing CBS pulling the upset in real time, potentially ridding the division of Okolie in the process, was quite exhilarating.
I attended Wlad v Toe Haye and the Pulev fights in Hamburg enjoying both. Vitali was my favourite out of the 2 brothers but I enjoyed watching both fight although the opposition at times was rank such as Pulev. You should note I am no Fury hater but that fight in Dusseldorf was simply awful. Both fighters contributed equally to that total stinker and I feel that was the night Wlad found out he was an old man in the ring.
Positive reviews of Fury-Wlad’s entertainment value on a two page Boxrec thread "I quite liked the suspense, waiting to see if Wlad would detonate and Tyson pi55ing around the ring clowning. One guy looked like it was all gravy and going as he wanted, other guy just looked like nothing was working. Action was poor but the drama was huge I felt" "I don’t see anyone’s problem with this fight, I actually enjoyed it. Watch Klitschko versus Ibragimov, Chambers, Jennings, Thompson, Chagaev or any of his fights over the last 10 years. He does not take any risks against smaller inferior fighters, did anyone really expect him to go to war with a 6 foot 9 back foot mover? Moan about his 10 year reign not the night someone put on the perfect display to counteract Vlad’s strengths." "Fvckin hell I can’t believe people are still trying to belittle Tyson’s brilliant performance that night. At the time I was engulfed by the drama of it, a truly captivating edge of your seat fight. A football match doesn't have to be a 4-3 goalfest to be entertaining, sometimes a fascinating tactical battle decided by a scruffy late goal resulting in a 1-0 win is equally entertaining. Great fights don’t have to be in the hagler hearns mould to entertain." "DESPITE low punch stats, I thoroughly enjoyed the fight because it was boxing. The science of hitting without getting hit back was all there. Fury's size, unorthodox approach, and lateral movement in combination with good hand speed made the unbeatable Klitschko look ordinary and human again. The mere fact that AJ versus an older, slower, inactive Klitschko was a life and death struggle: despite it being fight of the year: speaks volumes as to the pedigree between the two men. Fury is a cut above Joshua in ability. That being said, AJ is the top heavyweight in the world until Fury comes back and can prove otherwise. If indeed he can come back after 2.5 years and losing 80+ pounds, and beat someone like Joshua it'd only cement him as being truly the dominate heavyweight of our generation. Of course, I suspect many fanboys will automatically turncoat on Joshua IF that happens and say that they were wrong about AJ and say he never was good at all rather than give Fury credit." "If it had been a couple of random boxers, I probably wouldn't have found it so enjoyable. But it was the underdog most people wrote off ending the reign of a legend, that alone made it exciting. Worst fight of all time is just silly, most cards you watch have atleast one low action fight or one sided snorefest, and It's not close to the farces like Haye-Harrison, or Charles Martin's epic victory. Plus Fury's tricks have a bit of entertainment value."
Think I'll be looking just to lay Ngannou, £200 currently sitting just below 4/1 on the Exchange for him atm. What would you have Ngannou priced at just to win?
Did Vitali have any interesting fights as WBC champion? Punching an overmatched short plodder in the face over and over again. The closest thing to a good fight in 8-odd years was Chisora and that wasn't much fun either if watched retrospectively. The Pulev fight was one of the few where Wlad produced a fairly exciting performance (barring a lot of grappling), outside his losses and Peter 1. Mainly because Pulev stood right in front of him. Look at the six fights prior to Pulev: Wlad-Leapai, Wlad-Povetkin, Wlad-Pianeta, Wlad-Wach, Wlad-Thompson 2, Wlad-Mormeck. No one is re-watching them. https://eyeonthering.com/fighters/wladimir-klitschko "You should note I am no Fury hater" Aside from always scoring against Fury in a close fight, claiming that Fury-Wlad was "the worst HW championship fight ever" is bizarre, only lordlosh (Wlad Klitschko fanatic) and those types claim that in my experience. Wlad-Povetkin was obviously way worse for instance, though Wlad fanatics blame Povetkin. It's only the worst fight ever if you have a strong emotional investment in Wlad winning. Both fighters didn't contribute equally. It's up to Wlad to push the action if what he's doing isn't working. The public on scoring sites had Fury by a mile, so the onus was on Wlad. His corner was imploring him and he wasn't able or willing to do anything. Wlad was fortunate that his opponents prior to Fury had been either short guys who couldn't move, tall guys who couldn't move/move very well or short guys who could only move fairly well. I don't think Wlad was in significant decline because he wouldn't have fought Fury (who his trainer said was "the next dominant heavyweight") if he was. Wlad was very concerned with legacy, didn't have a perverse addiction to fighting and wasn't a paycheck chasing journeyman, or getting paid a huge amount for the fight. He also didn't have a problem with avoiding opponents if he needed to, as he could have with Fury.
I intended to place a bet on Ngannou outright at 6/1 earlier but I like super value. I only put a tenner on Kabayel at 8/1 to beat Makhmudov and I thought those odds were nuts.
Can't beat the once in a blue moon opportunities. Zhang in the first Joyce fight was the last one I dropped my jaw at.
Vitali v Lewis and Vital smashing Hide are my highlights. Still see that uppercut from Lewis and wonder how any man is not knocked out of the ring
AJ will KO him with ease in my opinion. Fury was expecting Floyd Conor 2 and barely trained, in a division where one punch can change everything unlike the lighter weights. Ngannou is a tremendous athlete, and a very good MMA fighter. But AJ is a good counter puncher and he will catch Ngannou who comes in from a longer distance and will take him out.
Rubbish fight, AJ probably stops him. Saw this coming from a mile away too. But if you’re getting £50m for an “exhibition” who wouldn’t take it.. If AJ smokes Francis, he’ll build a potential Fury showdown too.
Yes until that fight. The 10,000 Brits in the crowd knew that night that they had been conned by Haye and jeered him all the way back to the changing rooms.
