This is Eddie cashing out on AJ, doesn't show much faith in his fighter.. Shows that this is a 50/50 fight and he doesn't know which way its going might as well milk it.. Could be AJ's last fight.. If he loses to Andy again.. Could be all over for AJ..
Testing your loyal customer base to find their "breaking point" is not only a dick move, it is fundamentally short-sighted and ignores the complexities of consumer psychology and why they actually bought the product in the first place. You wouldn't "do it in any other business"; you set a price that seems appropriate based on the costs, margin and perceived value to the buyer. It isn't a Mafia shakedown; you don't go in with the mindset of squeezing every last drop out of the poor sap at the other end. Also, if you go in balls first with your pricing strategy, it's difficult to then drop the price back without making it obvious that you were just trying to fleece punters in the first place. To put it in perspective, I don't think a £5 increase is actually that bad, but in my view the "its bizness, innit?" mob are even a rung lower than the Dominos crowd.
£5 increase and the fight at Cardiff I could accept more. But screwing over his loyal fans who made him a multi millionaire by having the fight 4,000 miles away for a shed load more more money just makes it indefensible for me
People saying oh it’s just a fiver... 25% increase is huge. The difference that £5 will make is crazy. Just to watch it on tv it does seem steep. One last squeeze of the cash cow. I’d pay £100 to watch him lose
I used to listen to it but the ****ers completely disappeared up there own arse’s and that terry bloke Jesus ****ing Christ talk about twisting things to fit his narrative.
I wouldn’t mind so much if it wasn’t on free to air TV/basic cable in much of Europe and Africa. Matchroom can’t justify massive rights fees in the majority of territories. Do we know what they are paying for the fight in Mexico? Do they have DAZN there?
1 million buys at £25 is £25 million. I wonder if it was free to air how much they could charge on advertising? Edit just checked the champions league final was £10mil. So wouldn’t cover it.
They’ll charge £25 then every minute between rounds will be filled with adverts on top of that so we can’t listen to the corners.
