With all the focus on AJ Wilder, I feel like the Povetkin fight will get short shrift from casuals, even many non casuals. While Wilder AJ is the best fight to make in the division, this one is a VERY close second. And since there is already a question of how close to prime Povetkin is, getting it done now is more critical than getting AJ Wilder.

I really wish Wilder and Povetkin had fought. Right now, we are in a weird position of the #3 HW in the world having a better resume, and a colorable argument to being better H2H, than the number #2 HW in the world. That statement seems like it should be an oxymoron but its really true. But if they had fought, that problem would have been resolved and this match wouldn't feel so strangely anticlimactic and underappreciated, one way or the other.

I honestly don't care much for AJ / Wilder.

Povetkin / Joshua will be a MUCH better fight than that one, IF it ever happens.

If Povetkin beats AJ, he will stop Wilder as well.

Get real, Pov's gunna get smacked all over the ring after about the 3rd round. Matchroom took this fight for a reason, that being it's easy.

Povetkin > Takam, and Takam didn't get carpet bombed. Do you even watch boxing?

It would be highly amusing if Povetkin beat AJ, and then Wilder would have to either face him for a fraction of what he would have made against AJ or just dodge him.

It's only just been announced, I'm sure once Hearn starts seriously promoting it, interest will grow. They'll likely work the Russian angle, with the Anglo/Russian tensions it's going to be an easy narrative to sell to the tabloids and casual fans. All it will take is one person in AJ's team mentioning poisoning and the press will go into full hysteria mode lol.

    Joshua
    Wilder
    Pulev
    Povektin
    Parker

Those guys stand out above the rest for me and the most exciting matchup, imo, has already happened in Joshua, Parker. Parker being the only Heavyweight I wish to see do well of the current crop. All the other are just guys I like to watch fight but couldn't really cheer regardless. My next most anticipated bout is Parker vs Wilder rather than Joshua vs Wilder. I also Think Parker can make more happen in a rematch with AJ.

No, I just pontificate on here, basing my assumptions on peoples posts.

There's a saying, son, in boxing. A good big one beats a good little one, will stand you in good stead.

Its number 1 against number 2 as far as im concerned. Wilder has a belt and that has to be respected and acknowledged but i think this fight is the best and the 2nd best heavies on the circuit. I have seen nothing from Wilders resume or his performances to suggest he is better than an aging Povetkin.

There's no demand for this fight. Povetkin is past it and a drug cheat. Joshua was offered 50 ****ing million to fight Wilder. Anyone defending this farce is clearly riding Joshua's junk.

You're going to look foolish if Povetkin gives Joshua all he can handle and Wilder gets iced in 2.

:drink:Anthony Johnson is just too big for Sasha. In terms of NBA basketball Joshua=Shaq; Sasha=Stockton.
Don't be surprised if Johnson physically Squashes Sasha.

On the other hand we have Wilder taking on Bearzill2.0, will be great target practice when he takes on the juiceman in England 2019.:drink:

Agree it'd be awesome...then Wilder will spark Povetkin out and AJ/Hearn can figure out where to go next.

Fair enough. But my point still stands, it would still be funny, because everyone would still lose a ton of money under this scenario.
