AJ vs Dubois sparring story finally revealed

If it is true, I'm thinking that AJ will have 'some' extra caution and respect for Dubois. Even though it happened so long ago. First hand personal experience, either positive or negative will have some play in a fighters approach. How can it not?

And equally, I'm sure that Dubois will have some personal confidence knowing that he's hurt AJ previously.

It's a very close match-up for me. I'm leaning very lightly towards AJ catching Dubois, but it's probably a very simple case of who lands cleanly first.

I'm convinced it won't go 12 rounds.

 

AJ is going to fight like he did in Ruiz II...cautiously. Which actually isn't a bad idea. Let Dubois swing for the fences, counter him, and coast to a victory.

Or, he can stand and trade with Doobie which would be best for us fans cause someone will get KTFO.

 

Dubois has been riding on that story for years now. It’s pretty lame when fighters hold on to a sparring session so much.

 

Yeah it’s also disrespectful and goes against an unwritten code among fighters not to talk about sparring like that…. Instagram generation kind of ruining that to a degree, but many people still honor it…

also, there’s just a lot of unknowns even if the story is true… How hard was AJ going? How many rounds had he boxed? Did he box anyone else? Could he have been sick or off?

 

This was sparring, who is to say they were not working on a specific drill and Dubois took a liberty.

Joshua was IBF champion by this time, he was the Golden Child, public relations were guiding his every move, what would it have done to his PR if he had gone full steam ahead, had a ring war with a teenage amateur and beat Dubois up?

I was always told what happens in the gym stays in the gym.

We have less than two weeks to wait, until we see who beats who in the competitive squared circle

Imagine a full punch from Joshua. Doesn't matter what happened in sparring when things are supposed to light. Dubois wont be able to handle Joshua's power.

 

Man, I remember the Dubois Hrgovic sparring story. Didn´t matter at all because Dubois beat the **** out of him.

 

Headbutted the hell out of him. Hrgovic couldn't miss. AJ stops him inside 3.

 

Joey Dawejko supposedly KO him in sparring in camp before Ruiz I and then there's the Price story as well. That obviously didn't translate well for eithers pro careers.

 

I've never put much faith in 'sparring stories'. Rarely if ever are they relevant to an actual fight.

 

AJ Vs Dubous is a bodybuilding gunslinger match. 50:50. guy who gets there first wins.

AJ likes to pretend and THINK he's some great boxer but he's just a bum and no better than Dubious. Dubious has been swimming in the deep end for a few years now whilst AJ been given light touches quite literally. He WILL fall apart if Daniel can land first.

 

That would play into Dubios hands imo. He's not Ruiz and big enough to not be put consistently out of reach.

I agree that sparing is sparing but if you are a fighter you don’t let anyone get the better of you, especially in the gym. This should be the mentality but if you are sparring with fighters that you are paying from other gym’s, then that is because you are preparing for a fight, the whole point of a camp is to get your fighter ready to give 100 percent on fight night and not a second before.
So if you are the fighter with a fight coming up and you the one who is in camp,
You are never going to give 100 percent, you have injuries and the loss of a payday in the back of your mind, then you are getting a few decent kids who are getting paid pennies and are giving it everything looking to make a name for themselves or to get noticed.
That’s how these sparing stories happen, this is common knowledge in boxing.
It is also the reason why sparring stories are worthless and should stay in the gym.
The problem here is that when a young fighter gets the better of the fighter with a name, it’s difficult to deny, and the context is forgotten.
This isn’t any comment on Joshua and Dubois or what happened only that with sparring context is important.

 

Yep I think AJ will be cautious and box behind a jab and will eventually get the stoppage.
Hrgovic was hitting Dubios at will and thought he could just blast him out of there but he ran out of gas. AJ won't make that mistake he also hits harder than Hrgovic.
