I think you made some great points. Like you I was never really impressed with DD until recently l. early in his career, I thought that he couldn’t take a punch, but I felt the Joyce fight sort of put that to bed. He impressed me against OU in the title fight. I thought that he boxed a lot better than I thought he was capable of even though he lost the majority of the rounds. his win over FH was very impressive. I agree with you on AJ not being tested recently and that maybe he’s had it too easy for too long since the loss to OU. I think for five rounds this is anybody’s fight. I feel both have power to end it and vulnerability to lose it. Both men have been stopped, I like DD and his explosiveness I think he’ll be able to close the gap on AJ and score. I still have my doubts about his ability to pull it off against an elite fighter and lean slightly towards AJ would not be shocked if he was knocked out.
Ballsy shout Rummy! Dubois showed he can absorb a lot of right hands in the Hrgo fight, so I think he will at the very least test AJ's chin and resolve at least once. It's a really intreresting match up!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Dubois has a role in a future Bond film as a ‘Random Task’ esque character as the heavyweight champion.
I'm not rooting for either fighter here. I've got it a pretty close matchup but I'm slightly leaning towards AJ, but only slightly. Either man has got the power to put the other to sleep, and I'm sure that's how it will go. Probably early doors too, I reckon. No way is this being left to the scorecards.
Awesome Video, Joshua is not that much better than Dubois, this will be an even fight until the very end and that is what we all want, an equal and interesting fight...
Dubois is tailor made for a guy like AJ. AJ is going to shatter that Glass Jaw in the first 6 rounds.
I would be in the DD corner IF Hrgo didn't light him up at will with right hands. If he gets hit with just a few of those rights by AJ, he may be taking a knee again.
This is one of those that seems pretty straight forward to me in that Joshua does what Dubois does, but better. So barring a puncher's chance (which definitely is on the table), AJ should win this. BUT - Dubois vs Hrgovic also seemed fairly straight forward to me, so I might be wrong this time too. Wouldn't be the first and won't be the last.
This will be Dubois' 3rd (scheduled) 12 rounder in 9 months and it will have been barely a year since he was stopped. Even the old school heavyweights used to take time after a KO loss. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, and if it goes well it will be interesting to see if he becomes an example that others follow in the future.
Don't know if Dubois can win but Rummy is right , a couple of years ago picking Joshua to beat Dubois would have taken less than 2 seconds of deliberation. Now? Dubois has shown some grit and toughness I didn't think he had and lest we forget Ruiz did flattened AJ. Joshua is still the favorite and rightly so , I'm gonna wait and see what the odds are and just might place a C note on Dubois ,,we'll see.
He was stopped, but never badly hurt. It was more exhaustion and resignation than anything else. It wasn't a very punishing fight.
Looking forward to watching this when I get home from work. I think AJ is the obvious favourite, but Dubios is more than capable of pulling the upset. I've got $100 on Dubios to pull it off by KO between 7-10.
