DAZN doesn't do much in the way of advertising, it's pretty much Hearn as a one man band promoting fights. I want to see the fight, but I'm a little bit hesitant when it comes to signing up for anything DAZN related, as I don't want to be tied in to a subscription that I can't get out of.
I think this and the last few years with DAZN has shown how much of a monster Sky is, you get the adverts watching the football, then it on Soccer AM, behind the gloves and so forth, it was pushed and pushed, nowdays unless you follow Boxing Twitter accounts you don't see it mentioned
Intrigued with the main event to see if there's more to ngannu than meets the eye and he's got a deceptively long reach. But the undercard is where it's really at. Gwynne v Chamberlain which should setup the noakes fight nicely Zhang v Parker And the one in most looking forward to ball vs Vargas are all terrific fights.
really hope AJ doesn’t treat Ngannou with too much respect. i’d like a controlled but ruthless demolition job, as he did with Wallin, to show that a chancer can’t just parachute into elite level boxing and have success, despite Tyson Fury’s attempt to prove otherwise
Some story Ngannou mind. Hope he’s earning an absolute packet for this. ‘Battle of the Baddest’ is a decent watch on Netflix if anyone has a spare hour.
In fairness - as someone who has criticised AJ/Matchroom plenty of times before - most fights don't really have any real hype until fight week these days in the modern era. Probably due to the prevalence of the internet, we have information overload 24/7, so only the biggest mega-fights make any sort of real buzz in advance. Fury-Ngannou wasn't really that hyped until fight week approached, but in the days leading up, and certainly in the immediate aftermath, I had a lot of non-boxing friends talk to me about it, and it was big, headline news.
It's a big if though. A fit version of Fury would have time to smoke a cigar before avoiding the punch that knocked him over. Hard to see AJ getting hit like that.
Ngannou looked very good defensively and if Fury had indeed trained well for that fight as he stated pre fight, Joshua will be in for a very hard night.
