Eddie Hearn has previously stated that Nigeria is the front-runner to host AJ vs Klitschko rematch and AJ has now confirmed he’s set to travel to Nigeria in August. He has secured the endorsement and support of several notable people in Nigeria and his homecoming is expected to be by far, the biggest event in Nigeria in a very long time.

Part of the tour will be to visit the Presidency, some state governors, as well as pay his respect to royal fathers and attend a charity boxing match.

They just made a WINDFALL OF CASH @ Wembley... Why would they go to Nigeria? Only other places that would make sense are the MGM Grand/Mandalay Bay/T-Mobile Center (or Arena or whatever the fawk).

no way no how should the fight take place in nigeria.
how could anyone travel there to watch

a mate went there 3 or 4 years ago /white man / he had not left the airport when he was robbed at gunpoint with nigerian military watching on / they most probably robbed the robber afterwards.

i know nigerians who built big out of town houses with there money they earn in the uk who say it is to dangerous for them to live there fearing kidnap and death .

    let eddie hearn go there.

there will be blood is correct 90,000 at wembley again or millenium stadium with its retractable roof if klitchko drags his decision on to late in the year.

personally i think klitchko will retire.

That would be a beautiful thing. I'd imagine it would take place in the capital (Lagos,) but I'm sure both promoters must be very weary regarding the safety of both fighters.

It's just very cool to see these men follow in the footsteps of some of the great HW's of yesteryear who performed in big time fights staged in Africa. My main concern is just for their safety; while Nigeria isn't as dangerous as say, Sierra Leone, there's still a good amount of corruption and danger in that region.

It would be some kind of spectacle, that's for sure.

I mean foreman who was less popular took the belt on the road too during his reign so it's not uncommon

I wasn't sure if Joshua was of Nigerian descent and could draw a crowd

Hearn got an email from an Nigerian prince who wanted to fund the fight for $100M.
Only thing Hearn has to do is pay a small $25.000 fee in advance so government officials can visit the UK to make arrangements. In bitcoins of course.

Personally i like the idea in theory but not sure how big AJ is over there and i would also have concernd about safety but i like the idea, Eddie hearn knows how to put on an event, I think its good for boxing to have these kind of big extravagant events in different places, Instead of every big fight being at the MGM.

Its event's like this that build world wide exposure and interest in boxing, Hearn has made boxing in the UK huge again. Boxing is no where near as big as football/soccer but the bigger it gets the more fans are willing to travel to see big fights, soccer fans will travel anywhere on the planet to see their country play. again boxing is no where near as big and i am not saying it ever will be but things like this can only help push things forward and help the sport grow. its all about evolving and becoming better.

AJ is huge there.. He's the biggest athlete there. He's being invited to meet the presidency, you can't just be a nobody and get such an invite.

His homecoming is expected to be the biggest event in Nigeria. Also Abuja and Lagos are pretty safe, there is a element of danger but I'm sure they'll have adequate security as the president of Nigeria is a fan of AJ and is expected to attend the event.

Hearn is acting as if the flight is a certainty with his stadium shopping

hearn must have been told something behind-the-scenes that Wlad has not yet told the public

It sounds to me that the fight is a GO, and hearn knows it, but Wlad wants to make the official announcement himself
