I'll revisit the thread in a couple of months after Joshua's fought/booked Charr/Kabayel instead.

Of course this fight happens next.

    1. AJ will destroy him, people massively overhyping FN after the last fight
    2. It sells well given the Fury fight
    3. If AJ loses, he loses to a guy many thought beat Fury

A lot of people thought Fury lost but I read a comment above saying if he beats Usyk he has a claim at being the GOAT. Bit confused as to which one is it?

That is how many/most boxing fans are: if you have a great performance you're fantastic, maybe the best ever. If you lose or have a bad performance, you were never any good.

One reason why Fury will get more credit now if he beats Usyk is because many/most don't believe he can based on his last performance. I wouldn't be surprised if he were the underdog now rather than a 70-30-ish favourite. Also, the greater adversity you overcome, the more people tend to be impressed. Fury suffered a significant degree of humiliation, especially considering how out of control his ego had become. Many are saying "Fury will retire, he's finished". He must have self-doubt about whether he's still got something left in the tank.

Plus if Fury beats Usyk, Ngannou's stock will rise further. People will still think Fury underestimated him, fought to his level etc. but Fury will have proved that physically he wasn't as far gone as many believed. "Maybe Ngannou is a very good/dangerous fighter" would be the conclusion drawn by many more.

    I do see your point.

If Fury beats Usyk - it is a great win. And those that wrote Fury off shouldn’t make any excuses and give him full credit.

The same can be said if AJ beats Ngannou (if he fights him that is) Given the fight he gave Fury it should be deemed a good win for AJ if he beats him decisively

“As we start to plan AJ’s next six to 12 months we just want to know if that is an option."

“It’s seven weeks on Saturday, AJ wants to fight on December 23,” he said. “We appreciate it won’t be a mega-fight. He wanted to box three times this year.”

It's been just one day and Hearn's already backtracked on fighting Ngannou in "December/January", now it "might be an option in the next 6-12 months".

    Of course it is.
