WBA ordered it, so it could conceivably happen next, although I don't think it will. Who do you see winning and how? Neither has great footwork, kinda think it will be like those battle boots hitting each other until one gives out. Ill give AJ the solid edge from size and handspeed.
Can't happen next as Pulev is next in line. As good as Ortiz has looked at times he's also looked fairly ordinary at other times,Scoober Scott ran and probably showed up Ortiz age which I'm betting is probably older than the retired Wlad. I reckon we learned a lot about AJ against Wlad that night as we may of suspected how good he was but until tested it's all conjecture, the way AJ dealt with such pressure, getting hurt and overall one of the best of Wlads performances that night tells me that Ortiz would have to find a hell of a lot to equal that, maybe Ortiz would be more clinical but I think the age gap would tell. Great fight though and we've more chance of seeing that than Ortiz v Wilder no?
If Joshua had more mobility this would be hard to judge, since Ortiz hasn't fought in almost a year and is almost 40. Joshua likes to come after fighters and setup his shots, which would most likely get him countered by Ortiz. Joshua also doesn't have much head movement. However, if Joshua comes in lighter and is mobile he might pull off the win.
Joshua has to fight Ortiz next or he loses his WBA BELT PERIOD. The IBF had already said AJ could fight the rematch will the bleeder Wlad next but the WBA never did. Joshua wants to take the easy fight with Pulev instead. Either he does the right thing and fight Ortiz next or he loses the WBA belt. AJ and his camp is scare to death of Ortiz. But Ortiz hits harder than Wlad according to Jennings and Thompson so AJ will duck him. But that is fine AJ can take his easy fight with Pulev that no one wants to watch and Ortiz and Wilder can unify the WBC and the WBA belt and the hell with AJ. Let AJ keep his IBF belt and take easy fights.
You know damn well Ortiz would eat this overrated glass chin fraud within 5 rounds. Ortiz will get inside and walk him down. Unlike Wlad Ortiz can take a punch and fire back. Trust me AJ will duck Ortiz and give up his WBA belt and fight no punching power Pulev. Who the hell wants to see Pulev vs. Joshua ? Pulev is no draw at all. I'm not even a Wlad fan but at least he fought his mandatory fights.AJ's camp knows he can't take a punch so they want to cash out before he gets beat by a bum. **** if Ortiz ends up with the WBA belt he can unify against Parker or Wilder.
Since Joshua has IBF mandatory (Pulev) and WBA mandatory (Ortiz), would both sanctioning bodies allow him to face one mandatory then the next or would he be stripped?
Joshua will have to decide whether to give up the WBA or IBF titles, which one will he give up? Hell, Wilder only has to fight an old, out of shape, inactive, fat, drunk, Stiverne............
AJ late TKO. If I had to bet, I'd say come back from behind stoppage around rds 9-10. I do think Ortiz has the better footwork though, has the lateral movement to create angles when they're at a distance in addition to solid counter punching skills. So I think he'd get the better of the action if they were to box.
AJ knocks Ortiz out in 8? Have you seen AJ's stamina? Ortiz has a good chin and he will walk AJ down and expose this fraud. That is why AJ will be stripped of his WBA title. Thta is right AJ is ducking Ortiz. ANd who ther hell does AJ think he is just fighting 2 times a year.? He has only had 18 fights. He should at least be fighting 3 times a year. But AJ thinks he rules the heavyweight division because he barley beat a old Wlad. I will put a lot on money on Ortiz beating AJ fairly easy. AJ does not know how to handle pressure fighters. Jarrell Miller is probably the best American Heavyweight right now and I think he beat Joshua also. AJ is going to get exposed just like Wlad did but he does not have Steward to save his
The AJ fanboys will not like those words even though they ring true. Ortiz has been knocking on AJ's door for the last few years yet AJ would like to have his people believe he is struggling to find a fight.
I see both of them roughly on the same skill level, both are great counterpunchers with very good timing and accuracy, Joshua has better punching power and handspeed though, Ortiz throws better straight punches but Joshua throws better and faster combinations imo. I would favour Joshua in that matchup, i think he would win by KO in a brutal slugfest against the Ortiz who fought against Jennings, the best version of Ortiz. It's possible that Joshua would get hurt at some point in this fight but i think it's more likely that Joshua wipes out Ortiz than the other way round. I don't think this match would last more than 6 rounds, somebody gets knocked the **** out pretty fast. Joshua by KO in 6 rounds if this fight happens.
Lol... AJ already handled a better version of Miller in Whyte. AJ knocks Ortiz out in 8....no problem.
I think Joshua breaks him down and knocks him out. It's not an easy fight thought, Ortiz is a dangerous counter puncher and has plenty of power. But I don't think he can apply the kind of pressure some people think he can. He prefers to sit back and counter, he is less effective coming forward and pressuring. Also Joshua isn't the same fighter that was wobbled by Whyte. He prefers to be more patient now, sit back and counter like he did with Breazeale and early on with Wlad. Ortiz will have to cut off the bigger man in the ring he won't just have Joshua walk at him, giving him opportunities. Ortiz is also a one paced fighter. He can't move through the gears like some more explosive fighters can. Even if he hurts Joshua he might not be able to capitalise on it because of this. He simply can't raise his work rate when needed to. This also means the fight will likely be fought at a comfortable pace for Joshua so he won' test Joshua's stamina. I think Joshua will keep him on the outside and be the one to counter Ortiz coming in. I think the uppercut could be a very effective punch against Ortiz, he looks open to it sometimes and we all know Joshua has a very good uppercut as proven in his fights with Wlad and Whyte.
