Speed is King so even though it hurts I have to go Haye cos he also had power to back his speed. A prime Haye with Booth in corner would spark AJ Ouch!!!! That hurt....
I think Haye bricks it like he did with Wlad and Valuev and attempts to just run and pick his man off. It worked only against Valuev because he is very very slow. That tactic would not work against AJ. AJ to win a clear UD over Haye.
Let’s wait until after AJ’s career and look back and assess what his prime was and compare them then.
Thought Parker was really disappointing at the weekend but there were some similarities to how a Haye fight may have played out. Haye in his prime was a much better counter puncher than the Parker we saw at weekend and he may have been able to take advantage of a mistake from Joshua here and there but maybe we have just seen how Joshua will deal with smaller fighters who's power he respects. Taken them on with the jab and keep them at distance with the odd hook for a power shot. Hold and lean. Not on Wlad's level with it but there were some similar traits.
Funny...that fight prompted me to think about this question... Parker was essentially a slower, less powerful Haye but with a better chin...but the chin isn't an issue as Haye would be almost impossible to nail cleanly... Yes, Haye lost to Klitschko but Joshua isn't as good as that Klitschko and wouldn't employ the same tactics (spoiling and pushing Haye down), I also don't think his feet are as good... Joshua (other than his size) is pretty perfect for Haye stylistically imo, Straight up and rigid, moves in straight lines... Personally I think a prime Haye would have knocked out this version of Joshua, Joshua would take a big shot at some stage and unlike Klitschko, Haye wouldn't relent. Joshua is young and still relatively green though, could well have a different opinion by the end of his career...I expected him to knock Parker out...
More ideas for AJ vs, threads. AJ vs a hungry grizzly bear. AJ vs Dave Allen with Mikey Garcia on his shoulders. AJ vs Neo from the Matrix. AJ vs a hungry Rebel Wilson.
Haye was always crap at heavyweight. "Prime Haye" is a formidable but shaky chinned cruiserweight. Joshua would beat him quite easily. Haye would blame a sore toe. Joshua's hype is ridiculous. He's nowhere near what they've been telling you he is. Most here overrate him. But at least there's some sort of basis to it. He's a legitimate live young heavyweight, has a legitimate claim to be #1 currently. Haye never was. He was just a mouth. In a weak era, he chose a path of least resistance at heavyweight, talked his way into a big fight and put up a feeble effort.
Nah bro, Haye was the man. Wilder, Juicesha very fortunate that they weren’t in the frame at the time Haye destroyed Ruiz and even Chisora. Haye was a devastating sniper in the ring. Wladimir Klitschko didn’t land a glove on Haye. And I remember looking at the punch stats between Fury and Haye against Wlad: there was very little between them round by round. The toe was a legitimate reason for preventing Haye from launching his sniper attacks and he badly hurt Wlad late. There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that HW Haye who destroyed Chisora would make mincemeat out of Juicesha. Even shot Haye could still have a chance if he still demonstrates speed and power in May. We’ve all seen those sparring clips between Haye and Wilder where Haye is bouncing his ass all over the ring.
Joshua in a boring points win, Parker was boxing how Haye did against Klitschko, on the back foot counterpunching low volume so whilst Haye is doing nothing and waiting for counter, Joshua is flicking the fast jab out and being cautious and clinching when Haye gets close
I think it's a simple pick. AJ hasn't looked great against a few small heavyweights and Haye was extremely slippery. I think AJ fails to nail Haye early and Haye catches AJ with a big shot, wobbles him and closes the show with that brutal power of his. Joshua is a lot easier to hit than Wladimir Klitschko.
I would have fancied Joshua to have beat Haye. Hayes strengths are reflexes (which would have caused AJ problems) and his power. He was not the most skilful of boxers at setting traps e.g. I think Joshuas size would tell as he would win behind the jab forcing Haye to commit and I think after that he would get caught and be taken out.
