tua could be outboxed but he had a granite chin he would take aj shots no problem and 100% knock aj out cold
At this stage AJ is a little to green to be an overwheming favourite in this fight. However Lewis proved how easy it is to beat Tua so long as you have your head switched on and fight the right fight.
I would have to go with a prime Tua in this fight. Joshua is overrated and he is no Lennox Lewis. I think Tua breaks his down to the body and Ko's him late.
Joshua is no Lewis and not even close. Lewis beat the hell out of a 31 year old Vitali and Joshua almost and probably should have been knocked out by a 41 year old Wlad glass jaw Klitschko. Joshua has only had 18 fights. How the hell can you compare him to the best fighter ever in my opinion Lennox Lewis? Joshua is a Bruno , Michael Grant type of fighter. He will be exposed soon if he fights Ortiz.
Eh... Lewis had a proven glass jaw vs nobodies where as Joshua has showed he can come back from a knockdown to win. I think he would fight Tua unlike Lewis who just danced about with him.
AJ doesn't have the smarts to use his height and reach and keep him on the end of his jab like Lewis did. AJ would end up trying to headhunt and get him out of there, and Tua only needs one to put you out. Could go like the Ruiz/Tua fight where AJ gets rushed quickly.
Tua is 2-1 (1 KO) vs Nigerians thats a 33% KO ratio, the only stoppage he has vs a Nigerian is 12 Rd TKO. Still a very interesting fight though
Even green, Joshua could outbox Tua, but Tua was known for being hopelessly outboxed and landing a thunderbolt on fighters while being behind in a fight. Joshua is no defensive specialist and would have to be on point for all 12. I don't think he's shown yet he can stand up to an onslaught like Tua. Once Tua hurts you, he doesn't stop throwing, at all.
Based almost totally on the Klitschko fight I would say Joshua would have his hands full against Tua. He would have to fight him exactly like Lewis did - consistently move away, let him chase you around the ring and time him for pot shot leads and counter the wild misses. That was one of the more boring fights I've seen. Both fighters looked unscathed and dry when the last bell rang. Tactical brilliance on Lewis's part. I haven't seen Joshua execute that yet. He's had so few fights there's still a lot questions to be answered.
Oh hell the 41 year old Vlad that lost to Joshua would beat Tua. Tua just isnt a great fighter, Joshua already has done more.
So much about AJ not utilising his height and reach advantage. He doesn't tie fighters up when they're close as he likes to fight. And you as the spectator should be grateful that he brings the fight in to this sport. AJ is 7" taller than Tua, he would fight on the back foot, picking his shots for when Tua comes charging in. If Monte Barrett knocked down an old Tua, you bet AJ could knock out a prime Tua.
