You make it sound like Andy Ruiz is a bum. Hell Andy would also mope the floor with Morrison. Besides the great left hook Tommy had, he was very flawed.

No, in your head that's how you processed it. I don't call any fighters bums. I agree, Tommy is flawed. And I would favor AJ to win. But I wouldn't count out Morrison completely. He fought in a MUCH tougher era of HW boxing.

Thats exactly the point of the question tbh. As a B level HW in his Era how well would he do in todays Era if AJ is considered Elite.
He was flawed in the chin department but his Left hook was one of the best ever in the HW division and if Wilder can dominate on a right hand and Whyte is considered a top contender based on his left hook as that is the only thing decent about Whyte, then Tommy would also be considered a top HW in todays Era.
Im really glad i made this thread as it seems to have got people talking about something other than the standard who's ducking who, who chin is china thread we see all day everyday.

I don’t know mate, I think Martin is a stretch if Morrison is on it. He was extremely dangerous early/mid rounds. If he was serious and trained hard he could do the full 12, he did it against foreman, very disciplined in that

Easy excuse for getting smoked in your meaningful fights, other than getting on a bicycle for a middle aged man with cement feet.

Bentt would not be top ten today, and wasn't back then either. Mercer would be very fortunate to see a top 5 rating today; more likely to be near the bottom of the top 10. Purrity isn't top 10 material.

AJ would more than likely knock Morrison out around the 5th to 7th round

However Tommy could crack and AJ would do well to get up from a big shot if he landed

    I liked Morrison

Was good fun to have around the division back then and capable of beating anyone on his day

That's not an excuse. Do yourself a favor and look up the definition of 'excuse'. Obviously when you fight in a tougher league, you will have more troubles. Not rocket science.

If you honestly believe Mercer would be lucky to be top 5 today, you are trolling or completely vag whipped by today's HW division. Hate to tell you, it's the worst we've had in over 30 years.

You just don't know the sport like I do.

If not for bailing himself out with a left hook against Damiani, I don't think he'd have a single win over a top ten contender. He lost to the murderer's row of an ancient Holmes and Jesse Ferguson and drew with Marion Wilson.

    Michael Hunter probably beats him.

I know it MUCH better than you do. You post like you have a chip on your shoulder, and you know it all. 90% of your posting is utterly cringeworthy, like you're nothing but a professional devil's advocate or something.

No, you just post crap in broad strokes. FOH. Morrison struggled and lost against mediocre fighters and got totally outclassed and destroyed by the single great fighter he fought in his “great” era.

Was nothing broad about it. You've brought up a guy who's resume at 34 is still prospect-like in Charles Martin.
For the record, I already said AJ would win. You want to harp on about the great Prince, do it alone.

Martin has beaten the same number of top contenders as Morrison.

This isn't about resumes though. It's about how Martin would drill Morrison with straight lefts at will if they fought.

Morrison was notorious for partying during training camp and not being focused he also had a Glass Jaw but I would love to see AJ take a flush left hook from Morrison. Someone would be visiting China Chin Ave in Glass Jaw City for sure.
