He's 15-0 (12), but all against low level opponents. His last win was against a guy with 29 losses, which is some Anthony Yarde-level stuff: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/702298 Goodness only knows how he's rated above Mchunu and Masternak with the WBO.
Masternak is lad who KO Doctor and Bellew were able to win only on points. Mchunu is approx the same level as Makabu, maybe just a little bit lower and if there is good night for Mchunu, then.
Masternak will be more tough and more decent opponent. As far as I had get, Okolie maybe might had get Briedis fight if Eddie had opinion that he isn't Glowacki or Jezewski. After WBSS looks that he had attempt to get Makabu fight, then HW debut, then Eddie with Okolie had appeared and most likely peanuts purses ( casual souce from eddie ) and clauses discussions until IBF had ordered Cieslak for Briedis as mando. Then polish loud mouth promoter had talked about m bucks or like this, now appears that better they did not had wasted with poles any extra month and had asked IBF to announce purse bid ( tender ) for this fight. Ofc Okolie should do his mando, no offense here but his resume is level below Masternak for example. Maybe they might do Makabu fight instead of Prasovic? I dunno.
I'd still rather watch Ricky instead of Campbell Hatton, personally don't think he is very good, be amazed if he became good.
Horrible undercard for a huge event like this, but then again who is surprised... I'm sure they will add 1 or 2 fights including one womens fight. Ramla Ali possbily.
On reflection you really can't expect to much more. All the money goes into making the main event in these types of situations. Octopusalie is getting a little more palatable, he seems to back his power a bit more. I honestly thought they were holding off announcing it because they were waiting for the Olympics to end and we would get to see at least one Olympian make their debut. It was a bit deflating when we waited all that time to get for the most part the fights that were rumoured weeks ago.
You should get that pro boxing business is just business, like cinema industry, supermarkets and anything else.
Pathetic undercard. There are better fights to watch at the Central Station in my city. Hasn't Okolie won a world title recently? Who the **** is that guy he's fighting here? Hearn has no shame at all feeding bum after bum to Okolie. Terrible.
Yeah , he just won a title in his 16th professional fight. Now he has to defend against challenger mandatory ordered by the WBO.. Wtf has that got to do with Eddie Hearn? Joe Smith has to defend his newly won WBO belt against some unknown guy , is that the fault of Eddie Hearn too? You act as if Okoile is the first guy to ever be ordered to fight an unknown mandatory challenger.
Good if he will last 1 minute vs Okolie, his resume looks " damn cool ". I hope he will stay alive after being in the ring vs Okolie.
Umar Salamov isn't unknown. He's pretty well known. And he's pretty decent. And fought decent competition. No shame in fighting this guy. It's actually a good fight. Of course Okolie isn't the first guy to fight an unknown mandatory challenger but it leaves a bad taste because Okolies record is **** poor and full of "unknown" guys like that. Additionally the guy he's fighting is terrible and a club level boxer at best. Saying Salamov is comparable to this bum is an absolute joke and confirms that YDKSAB. And don't act silly...a promoter has some influence and they're paying a sanctioning body for a good reason. Eddie played his role and he got an easy defense for Bumkolie.
