This is a dangerous fight for AJ, we’ve seen AJ on the deck from Wlads straight right down the pipe. If Wilder lands it will be lights out for AJ, even Fury could not avoid Wilders bombs
Joshua needs to go for the KO. If he waits around it's worse for him. That's how Wilder catches most people. Wilder by KO for me.
Disappointing to hear they may be fighting and Wilder will be ****ing 38 years old. what a JOKE. This fight should be boycotted - utter scammers, Wilder and AJ just cashing out so they can finally get millions. Frankly, it's undeserved these guys should have fought years ago, instead they and their team have waited until they ready to sail into sunset . Robbing the public of the fight that was deserved. This is why boxing is not a sport it's circus show. Money dominates it so much you rarely get prime for prime fights at the top level. These guys get paid millions to carefully select their careers and not even fight the best..I'd really like someone to tell me how this is actually a sport?
this was a flashback to wilder calling out Joshua in 2017 when the fight should’ve happened, both were undefeated and champion. This content is protected
Obviously it's a problem that they did not fight 5 or so years ago. It's a shame because it would have made a huge amount of money. They did get discuss it at one point but could not agree on the split. So they never got that close, unlike Fury/Usyk which *did* get agreed in terms of split. "The amount of money that was offered by DAZN was a lot of money. But it's not a lot if you find out later that Joshua got double that." — Shelly Finkel
The trouble with that statement from Finkel is Holyfield took home double that of Lewis in their first undisputed fight. This was when Lewis was WBC champion and Lineal. Now some might argue Wilder potentially would have brought the American market, but he just didn't have a track record of doing so. Wilder was bringing in a fraction of the revenue of Joshua. They should have just accepted Wilder was playing the role of Lewis to Joshua's Holyfield, and given the fans the fight they wanted.
Without knowing the specifics, tough to criticize either party. Regarding the split itself, Wilder's argument would have been that he was bringing a more established TV PPV platform (Showtime or Fox) than DAZN. That was and is the issue with Hearn deals - you are stuck with a bum broadcaster. I don't really have an opinion other than it sucks the fight did not happen. The two sides should have worked harder than apparently they did.
People concluding that AJ has no chance here are missing the fact that Wilder will be a few months past his 38th birthday when this fight takes place. He may be too old to pull the trigger on his best shots at that point. People also seem to forget how Wilder always reverts to doing the same dumb **** over and over as soon as an opponent hits him flush the first time.
