DING DING. Who do you think takes the centre of the ring? Who do you think will box on the back foot? Do you see Wilder tagging AJ with his long ass jab? Or will AJ establish his range and make Wilder have to come forward? I've been watching fights back from both guys trying to visualise the fight. I like the fact that in the Parker fight AJ is not afraid to run when his opponent just tries to bull rush him, he just stepped back quickly and kept his lead hand out to stop Parker throwing a big overhand right. TIME STAMP This content is protected Most of Wilder's opponents who he had bodied have not been defensively sound at all, even Ortiz was winging it big time by coming forward into Wilder's danger range non stop. I think Joshua can possibly keep the fight at his range and just purely box with Wilder, but keep Wilder honest enough with hard counters (which Fury couldn't do), and if need be, run should Wilder go nuts. Fury slipped so many of Wilder's punches, but AJ does not have the upper body movement or head movement to do this and instead catches punches on his forearms. I think a lot of it is down to how good is Fury really? especially the Fury that showed up for the Wilder fight.
Toss up. Shoot out with Wilder catching him first due to more unpredictable style and speed, or AJ catching him with a massive counter after Wilder swings and misses with a wild, amateurish punch.
Joshua has the superior boxing skills so he will bide his time into the middle rounds where wilder is generally more dangerous as he does tend start to start fights slowly. I can see it being a feeling out session in the early roundswith wilder looking for the big right. Both guys will hit the deck in the middle to late rounds. But I have more confidence in Joshua defensively after a knock down. I could see wilder dropping joshua going for the kill and getting caught with something.
The fight will never happen . Me and @GALVATRON were chatting about this over a month ago now . We both said next after DB is Ortiz and Kownacki in which ever order for Wilder . Wilder will do a Bowe when the matter is pushed , if it ever is . PBC do not want to lose the only belt the US holds in the HW division . Only Hearn love him or hate him has stated or talked about the fight . After the Takam Joshua fight it became evidently clear that the PBC do not want the UK holding all the belts and that has been the campaign all along from them .
Wilder goes into the fight with a nagging hand injury, re-injures it early on ... fight is a letdown. Blames hand injury for poor performance. In retrospect Wilder wishes he had taken the fight 18 months earlier when he was peaking. Fight is filed under 'footnote' in the history of the HW division, next to Wlad/Haye.
Don't know about NOT ever happening. I think its a strong possibility it will IF Wilder loses at least once. Or around 2022 when Wilder is ready to check out and also fall back on claim he had aged or some dumb angle. But not happening within 2020 /2021 is strong possibility which is basically not happening bc Wilder is in his prime now , odds are he will lose a step the way he fights and he will then have an excuse when he takes that L...IF he takes that L and actually steps in the ring . lol
Joshua will fight very very cautiously, even "scared", clinching a lot (Wlad style). Wilder will do what Wilder does — try to knock AJ out with 1-2.
I'm now pretty sure it's not going to happen anymore. At least not as a unification. People will say "Too much money involved", but the way negotiations go and Wilder's actual worth, there's never going to be a deal that would satisfy both camps. Joshua needs Wilder for the missing belt (undisputed), and Wilder needs Joshua to bring in the money... These negotiations will end up nowhere and now we see the excuses given for signing other fights are getting more and more ridiculous each time, it won't happen before one of them loses. It's not like they're unbeatable as both have shown in multiple occasions.
