It will be very strange if the fight doesn't happen in the UK. AJ is the A-side, he is more a "money generator" than Wilder.
flip this the other way round 2 hypothetical opponents there is an american fighter who is paid 10 times more per fight than his english rival in his own country the american fighter has a 5 to 10 times bigger fanbase and able to put bums on seats the american fighter sells out in minutes no matter who the opponent historically since the 70s this has meant the british fighter fighting in his opponents backyard namely america in every case. when an american has been established in his own market and is the main man then the foreigner has to travel . as to AJ breaking the american market ? what market ? the american heavyweight market consists of 1 fighter namely wilder unless they fight each other over and over /america does not currently have any other viable big money AJ fights out there . if wilder is not a big money earner in america being a 40-0 ko artist why would a foreigner crack there market. its worth trying but unless AJ fights a major usa name it is not going to generate the intrest or money that he gets in the uk. if and when wilder v joshua takes place it deserves to be a spectacle people are blaize about joshua selling out huge stadiums. this is brilliant for boxing/ the spectacle and occasion if you hold it in america / hold it in one of the NFL stadiums
The UK and not just because the main attraction is based there. If held in the US, they probably won't earn the purses back.
If we are talking about Joshua/Wilder next after Joshua/Parker then it has to be the UK. When it comes down to where the fight draws the best crowd and generates the most money it's the UK. Now Wilder has grown his popularity in the US. His social media following more than doubled in the lead up to Ortiz. he sold more tickets than usual at the Barclay's for Wilder/Ortiz and the 1.1 mill viewers that tuned in on Showtime for Wilder/Ortiz were more than any other fight last year. Wilder is clearly growing in popularity. But they still have some work to do before Joshua/Wilder could be a guaranteed PPV success in the US. Making Joshua/Wilder a US PPV fight in the summer would be a risk and a risk not worth taking. Also if the fight happens next in the summer the fight could be competing for ratings with the World Cup which could kill the PPV in the UK if it falls on the night of a good evening match. I doubt either promoter will want to just rely on US PPV at this stage to generate what is required to cover the fighters purses. The fight still needs building. Maybe they'll try having a double header in the US in the summer. Joshua vs Miller and then Wilder vs Breazeale or Whyte could help build the fight in the US later in the year. Then maybe the fight could happen on US soil in the autumn/winter on US PPV.
Doubt AJ wants to get windmilled in the nuts from a guy full to the brim on tainted meat in the home of the fair shake
So obviously US... - Casino Money - $80+ primetime US PPV vs £25 UK PPV - Higher gate in a Vegas Arena than any UK Stadium - US Media selling the fight hard History speaks for itself. The biggest fights happen in the US cos it makes more money for all involved. If Eddie The C*nt Hearn pushes for the UK it's cos he knows AJ needs all the help he can get. All that aside, the fight 100% happens in the US because Eddie knows AJ is a knockout waiting to happen. He cares far more about breaking into the US market than he does about protecting AJ's glass mandible. So he will 100% sacrifice him to Wilder in the US if he gets to co-run the promotion.
Can even one of you fools tell me why the f*ck Mayweather-Hatton was held in Vegas and not Manchester???? Are you really that uneducated on the business of boxing or did you forget everything you know the minute Fast C*nt Eddie opened his wh*re mouth?
