AJ vs Wilder or Fury?

That's interesting - I don't think he'd be too likely to beat any of them...
He wouldn't stop Hrgovic and even Hrgovic would be likely to win the decision - I don't rate Hrgovic as much as many do, but I don't think Wilder has what it takes to exploit his weaknesses.
Sanchez is still very overrated for me, but I think he'd be likely to win the decision.
Okolie I don't massively rate as a heavy, but his smothering would cause issues, and he's got the power to stop Wilder.

I don't think Wilder is anywhere near contender level anymore - I don't see him getting past gatekeepers, but I'm fine with him trying.

Up to a point... It shows a willingness to risk his health for a nonexistent attempt at a path to glory.

Equally... There'd be an irony in him stalling the division by becoming an easy win for Kabayel's only fight in a 12 month window - gumming up the division with a pointless fight in his twilight just as he gummed the division up by ducking unifications and contenders in his prime.

Can't fault the desire, but I don't see the point - it's not good for the division and he's only realistically going to lose at contender level.

 

Okolie could pose some issues providing they have a referee that doesn't punish excessive hugging, I agree. As for stopping Wilder? Idk.

Sanchez is massively overrated, old and appears to have some form of permanent injury. Being a Southpaw he's also a clean target for the right hand. I'd expect Wilder to do a repeat of what he did to Ortiz.

Hrgovic, despite the hype, is about as basic as they come in terms of ability and has terrible defense. Durable? Sure, but as Dubios showed that won't matter much if Wilder can get a cut open.

The division is stalled because Usyk won't fight anyone and most of the contenders don't want to run the risk that Parker did, because if they lose they're even less likely to pick up a fractured title.

I think Kabayel causes too many issues for Wilder and finds a way to break him down, so I'd give Wilder huge props for taking him on, I just don't see that particular fight happening as Kabayel seems more risk adverse than ever.

It's also a bit harsh to assume Wilder has no pathway to glory. He has less time to do it, but I think there's still an opportunity to redeem himself. Time will tell.

 

Wilder will dominate and beat AJ. Not because he's better, but simply because AJ vs Fury is destined to never happen. Either that or Fury gets knocked out cold this weekend.

 

I know what you're saying, but to be honest I am a combat sports fan in general first, so I don't really look at it that way. Boxing was my first love, but I love all the different disciplines of fighting (although not so much if there's no striking involved I have to admit). I'd only feel that way if it was a Youtuber or something who beat a boxer. Stupid stuff like Jake Paul beating a geriatric Mike Tyson is bad for the sport. But for me, Ngannou has the power to put anyone to sleep if he connects right, no matter what discipline he fights in, so I don't think it'd be too much of a shock to see him do something like that to a boxer. I feel it was more shameful for Fury when he fought him, as Ngannou arguably won on points.

 

What you are conceding there is, there was a time when you considered Wilder was a contender.

That is a big slip up for you and your chip-on-each-shoulder Wilder hate narrative.
