It's not in the works. Usyk hasn't even defeated his mandatory challenger yet. I think Dubois might pull off the upset, nothing to do with styles or skills, all because Usyk vs Fury is never going to happen and anything to get in the way probably will happen.
In the works - the Saudis are failing it for year and a half already. Skill Challenge Promotions' Head of Boxing Amer Abdallah was claiming that "premium contracts" are almost ready to be sent to the fighters about two months ago. Now the event is postponed for some time in 2024. By that time, Usyk will be having probably his third (if he wins this Saturday and then the next one) title defense, Fury should also be mandated one.
Usyk need to get past his mandatory first and it's going to be a tough fight. And Ngannou may land a miracle Hail Mary.
What this means is that there's no imminent announcement for Wilder/Joshua and that they've kicked the can down the road again. Wilder, at least, needs to get in the ring against *someone* this year.
Sounds like that “someone” won’t be Ruiz according to the WBC. Looking forward to Wilder v Szpillka rematch and Joshua v wardley
The Saudi's are the most damaging thing to happen to boxing since Floyd Mayweather. Yes some of the diva fighters are to blame as well, but I think they wouldn't be as inactive if there wasn't that potential "Saudi Money" blockbuster down the road that rarely ever materializes.
“ I should be able to beat any opponent just by using one hand I’m that good-that’s my mindset” “ Whoever’s good enough to take me to the trenches, let’s go “ A couple of pearlers there from Anthony Joshua
