Its crazy isnt it What is it with HW champs and fat guys Wilder got schooled by a tubby so and so too
We have no idea how his camp went. I am sure he trained hard. Those things you are talking about are what he was doing on time off. The guy is very dedicated.
I don't want to be a clever shyte but when everyone said he looked anxious I was saying he was over relaxed and underestimated ruiz, I fully expect a motivated Joshua to beat ruiz this time.
I had it 19-19 after 2 rounds but I can see how people had it 18-20 to AJ. I felt Ruiz started off well and won the first round by holding centre ring, forcing the action and making Joshua fight in a way that he didn’t look comfortable (on the back foot, wide stance trying to box down to Ruiz’s level). I gave Joshua 2nd round. He started to look more in control in the 3rd and did well to catch Ruiz standing square. I don’t think he made a mistake going in, because he landed a huge right hand. His mistake was not stepping back after the right hand landed and working back off the jab. Ruiz was still trying to trade and wasn’t ready to go. Joshua did the exact same thing against Klitschko in that he over committed when he thought the fight was done and got caught with the left hand. He needs to learn that these are not lucky punches, they are mistakes from recklessness and they keep coming from left hands. I know you’re not defending him nor slating Ruiz but rather just offering a more balanced view. Imo every fighter has their kryptonite. This doesn’t make Joshua nor Fury or Wilder etc not world class, it just makes them more exciting because of that vulnerability.
Great analysis, thanks for that. I'm trying to learn more about how fights are scored and won so posts like this are really helpful.
Thanks bud, the judges on the night disagree though haha. Ring generalship, effective aggression, clean hard shots and defence...but it’s all subjective and what you like and who you like if you’re biased like me
