Makhmudov absorbs some big punches from Ajagba, Ajagba does not absorb punches from Makhmudov. The lion by 5th round ko.
I'd lean toward Ajagba at the moment. I thought he looked really good Saturday whereas Makhmudov seems to be regressing in recent fights. (And he wasn't exactly Benitez to start with). I'd really like to see this next. Ajagba was #14 in the WBC ratings (Zhan was #9) before Saturday. Ajagba should crack the WBC top 10 (or replace Zhan at #9) with that win. Makhmudov is presently sitting at #4 in the WBC. A Makhmudov (#4) vs Ajagba (maybe #9) matchup in the WBC would be a great before the year's out. Lots of fireworks.
I agree. I much prefer eliminator fights between 2 good prospects over seeing them fight faded gatekeepers like Chisora or Takam.
