http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=15074&more=1 Apparently set to return on a Frank Maloney promoted show on April 18th?? Surely Olu Rotimi can shed some more light on this.
I asked Olu what was happening with Ajose a couple of weeks ago. Think he said then that Ajose was back in training for a fight in April for the WBC International Title. He needs a BIG performance!
He needs a huge performance. The lad has not impressed recently and needs to give us something to get excited about. I like Olu and Ajose has serious talent but a breakthrough performance against a very able operator is needed, he's 29 so time is not on his side for too much longer. The WBC International fight could be a step in the right direction.
Agree! His last performance was awful, i hate to say it but i think he has found his level. If he fought Hatton or Witter i think he wouldnt last long.
Naw, I dont think he's found his level yet, think he needs a bit of a challenge to be honest, the guy looked bored in his last fight, needs an injection of fear to get the best out of him. Would like to see a good test to see how he copes.
If that article is correct Ajose isn't even chief support on the undercard of Woolcombes British Light Middleweight Title defence. Step backwards from headlining on Sky.
Yeah, he's fighting on the 18th at York Hall. He definitely hasn't found his level yet. It's common knowledge that nobody wants to come near him. He says he'll fight anyone, but nobody steps up.
Very talented. He seems to have all the tools needed to be a genuine title contender but lacks the drive to get decent fights.
Ajose ain;t going beyond his commonwealth title, Witter would KO him within 4 rounds. He's quick but he drops his hands throwing flurries and was troubled by Wright's jab and strength.
As a personal friend of Olu's I am certain that my friend's 's faith in Ajose is not misplaced. It has been frustrating for us to see Ajose avoided so much and I have voiced the same concerns to Olu that people have said on here. I have always thought that he should have gone to the US and made a name for himself over there. Time is running out and it will be so unfortunate if Ajose never reaches his true potential. I have been disappointed in his last two outings but I know that he can do so much better. In his last fight he barely looked like the same fighter. Perhaps he was demotivated and was only going through the motions. He needs to make something happen now and being lost on the undercard of so so fightcards will not help his cause. Where are you Olu? Give us some information right from the source.
Once again, I think people are looking too deeply into Oluseguns fight with Wright. I told people here this would be a tough one, as Wright is a damn good fighter. I predicted that any win against him would be a good one. But its too late, you, Olu himself & everyone else are so down about that fight & it shouldnt be so. No-one has an easy fight with Wright. OK, maybe Olusegun underperformed, but the positives should be looked at here. Olusegun didnt perform at his best but still had enough to beat Wright in his home town. That equals a fine win IMO. & remember folks, I said this before the fight happened. Its irritating the **** out of me that everyone is so down about Olusegun now cos he didnt KO Wright, but no-one has n easy fight with Wright. Just ask Lenny Daws & Kevin Mcintrye. Two guys who know how to fight. No fighter can look spectacular all the time, sometimes when they arent firing on all cylinders they just need to buckle down & get the job done. Thats what Olusegun did, & he lives to fight another day. & if a fighter can still win when not at their best? Thats the sign of a champion. Its like football, the best teams win championships by pulling out wins when they play badly. I hate comparing football to boxing, but this time I feel the need to.
You're right I can see definite comparisons between Ajose and Rangers. Both disliked for their questionable style, but both get the job done when they need to.:happy
