Hope all is well with Olu as he hasn't posted in this thread yet.... Apparently Ajose's opponent on the undercard this Friday is - Alexander Spitjo Record - Won 4 Lost 4 Drawn 0 = 8 6 round bout
Apparently so. No disrespect but I don't think Ajose will be able to stake his claim for a shot at Hatton or Witter on the back of a win over this guy.
jeff what do you reckon of this? i know we've all been debating the relative merits of ajose on here for a while now but how can a guy who is touted by some on here as being the best 140 pounder in the world justify this fight and be taken seriously? i'm sure some will come on here and justify this and give good reasons why but imagine if this had been hatton!!
With all respect to Olu I think the only person who believes Ajose is the best 140 in the world is himself. Ajose is in desperate need of a break through fight. I think marking time fights are better then inactivity so I don't blame him for taking the match but Ajose NEEDS to offer hsi services short notice against a world class fighter that appears the only way he will get a break through in his career. Personally I think he's very good but not good enough to be a legit world champion.
Ok so this fight is not what we all hoped or expected from Ajose. No doubt we will get another "excuse" for it but Spitko can really bring a fight and if Ajose is not fully focused he could end up with a tough little fight on his hands and needing the KO. I like Alex alot. He is not by no means a fighter worthy or touching gloves with the "special one" but he has fire in his belly. Seen him fight a few times and he's a good kid, usually done hard by judges and local favorites.
Unfortunately I think Ajose's performance in his last fight against Wright was more damaging than some may care to admit. He was headlining on Sky and it was an opportunity to shine and showcase his talents. Its a shame because, if he had really impressed, I doubt he would now be fighting a guy with as many losses on his record as wins on the undercard of Woolcombe v Rhodes.
