When condensed down into the 30 minute show , with no build up per fight , no talking up the opponent , then AJ's record is really that of a hype job. Im not saying he is , but I cannot believe he goes from Gary Cornish to a world title challenge within two fights. I hope im wrong, but this looks too soon. peace.
I think there is an element of it being too soon. If he wins this you can bet he is matched carefully to prolong his existence as champion unless there is appetite for a rematch with Martin to give Joshua a bit more experience. Or he may flourish - looking forward to this one.
Charles Martin went from fighting tom Dallas to a world title shot within two fights. This is not too soon for joshua, not is it too soon for martin, they are both unbeaten prospects who have yet to face anyone as good as the other.
You can't complain about him fighting bums and then complain when he finally steps up and fights a live opponent.
If you forget about the 'world' title and just judge it on the opponent, then I feel it's a good step up fight for AJ. I'd have Martin as fringe top 10 at best
It's not "too soon" for Joshua. That's a nice ready-made excuse for if he loses though. As everyone can see, Charles Martin is in exactly the same position. Despite holding the IBF title, he's just as much an "unproven" prospect as Joshua is. Each of them has had one real fight each. Joshua had the Whyte fight. Martin had the Glazkhov fight. The rest of their records is meaningless dross.
Tricky one but I think Hearn clearly thinks that Martin is so limited that Joshua will win convincingly. I'd say Joshua within six but that's with no real conviction due to the lack of footage we have of Martin.
can't do right for doing wrong, aj is stepping up in class and ppl are moaning, if its "too soon" then we will find out when he fights martin
...but who is Martin? If Martin didn't have a world title, wouldn't you just think this is the next step up in terms of opponents?
