This is boxing, fighters have off nights and matchup problems and a plethora of other factors that affect the outcome of fights. And in no other weight class is this more applicable than the HW division -- where any HW can get KO'd by another on any given night. I'm NOT an AJ fan, never have been and never will be. That being said, he IS very talented/gifted and skilled. No fighter is without their flaws, he is no different. For "fans" to be writing him off after his recent loss to Ruiz, after all of his accomplishments and body of work to date -- it's pathetic. This guy is going to be back, and I'm sure will win another championship belt before his career is over and he will be as relevant as any other HW for a LONG time.
The real funny thing is the actual face of boxing ever Ali ,had he not been saved by the bell ( he was ) in his 19th fight vs a180 pound pounder by LEFT hook to ,history would have been changed dramatically and there would be no invincible comic book character in boxing at all ( I have no idea why he is anyway he took losses ? ) but a dominant unified champion loses to an actual big puncher its a death sentence. Like I said bf got to love the modern fan . lol
The Hearn haters and AJ haters have had a field day the last week Im kinda in the middle Im no huge fan of either but i firmly believe it was a VERY bad night for AJ I really do think he will take the rematch and win Although not easily AJs demise is being highly overplayed If he loses though he needs to knock it on the head He is a very rich guy who has earnt more than most boxers will ever earn Invest and enjoy life
AJ being written off now plays to his advantage if he can beat Ruiz. If he wins the rematch people can build it into some sort of epic victory and a great comeback. I'd favour Ruiz in the rematch, based on what I saw, but I'm not writing AJ off. He's a good fighter, a very good heavyweight. He's just not what a lot of people rated him as. But I never did anyway. He's good and has a fighting chance against anyone.
The bodybuilder tarnished the sport of boxing losing to a morbidly obese specimen. Now all those amateurs looking up for a role model, will not see the point in general fitness, and being body healthy. All I want to do now, is go into McDonalds, and put a tonne of bodyfat on because it will make me punch harder like Ruiz. Doesn't matter if I get diabetes, because Andy Ruiz is overweight and he's champion of the world. God damn it. Now Deontay's gotta sort this whole mess out, because Joshua can't compete against these huge blob like behemoths.
Wilder lost to a fat boy coming off a drink and drugs binge , not sure he’s doing a good job of sorting all that out.
Many fighters get beat but it was the manner of defeat, contrast AJ's performance with Danny Williams winning with a dislocated shoulder, he didn't want another second of Ruiz and the ref knew it, if he loses to Ruiz again in similar fashion he is done.
Great fighters have had devastating losses and came back to the top. It's just that certain fans and media are fickle. If AJ does a number on Andy in the rematch he will be back. If being a great boxer is always about never getting beaten then you ain't fighting enough good guys. Not everyone is a floyd. How many top heavyweights are undefeated? Joshua's 0 is gone and come wilder vs fury 2 so another's will be. Who ever loses out of wilder and fury. That doesn't take away from everything they achieved and all that they have done. They will still be a great fighter, an ex world champion who lost. No big deal.
It's the disgusting fairweather mentality of modern boxing fans, kiss up to them while they're winning, kick them when they're down. This whole business has actually made me more of a fan of AJ than I ever was before, since I hate seeing fighters get unfairly stigmatised in the wake of a loss, whoever they are. AJ beat Wlad, Parker, Povetkin and Whyte in under twenty five fights yet suddenly he's a completely useless, glass-jawed joke? I swear, some people deserve this trainwreck of a sport.
This. People are definitely writing him off too soon. Despite everything Joshua’s accomplished people seem to forget that Joshua’s a very green fighter with only 22 fights under his belt. A loss or two doesn’t define a fighter’s career. As long as Joshua keeps growing as a fighter he has the potential to be champ again and maybe even the top guy. Although I wish he’d make it a habit coming in at 240 or less, since he always performs better when he comes in lighter and is a lot more mobile. Carrying all of that muscle is great for him marketing wise, but he pays the price in the ring because i tires him out too fast.
No one's writing anyone off, he just clearly is not the phenom he was made out to be. Good heavyweight yes. Special no
Ruiz don't look it but hes one bad mofo, talk about judging a book by its cover which we all do, this is where 99% of people are wrong right here, me included, Hes a natural Ruiz, Joshua is not !
