A nice confidence boosting KO against Pudding Pulev made no difference to the Usyk fight and he really needs to step in and face some danger or the same will happen again when he steps up to fight Usyk, Fury or Wilder. He is what he is, a non elite ex World Champion aged 32 who already is the best version of his potential. Time is not on his side and he should face at least Joe Joyce if not Fury next as the only thing he can change now is fight tactics.
Wilder is done, so I'm not sure why anyone bothers mentioning him. Plus he turned down the Joshua fight for undisputed, so he's hardly likely to take it now for no belts and less money. Fury has a fight signed and is telling people he's retiring after it, so again I don't see the logic in talking about that. Joyce would be a good fight, but would be dangerous as an interim fight. I don't think any version of Joshua beats Usyk at his best, I called it when Usyk announced he was moving up in weight, he beats everyone at heavyweight, no one there is close to his talent level. But the situation is that Joshua has a contract to fight him for a ton of money, so they're not likely to jeopardise that too much. As a realistic stay busy fight, Wallin would do just fine, and Fury fans seem to rate him highly so I'm sure they will be impressed by it. They better not put it on DAZN PPV though.
I'm almost certain it'll be Wallin. Easy fight to make I'd imagine and the narrative plays out nicely from Hearn's POV.
Smoke and mirrors. There’s more chance of AJ learning his times tables than fighting Wilder in an interim bout before fighting for 3 world titles in a rematch.
Agreed. Not in a million years does that happen. Way too risky. Very likely even the current version of Wilder bombs him out very early.
Hearn isn’t daft. Puts the Wilder rumours out early enough so in a few weeks he can say ‘well AJ wanted Wilder but...’
Which Mitch jumps on along with a few other matchroom fans, where as everyone else can see that Eddie is talking his usual rubbish.
Hearn is the pied piper for the casual boxing fan. I have to say I enjoy Hearn. Wouldn’t trust a word he says but he is funny. My main gripe is the likes of Whyte and Chisora having a massively overstated sense of worth because Hearn has fleeced the public by putting them on PPV
I am not just a fan but a former amateur. I have been involved in the sport in some capacity or another since 1982. I have been in dressing rooms where men like Pat Cowdell and Tony Willis have cried like babies. There are no cowards in Boxing but way too many blowhards like you who talk big from the safe side of the ropes.
