He came across like an idiot and maybe an egomaniac that's true enough, everyone has pointed this out. BUT AJ has spent his whole career living this almost puppet-like existence where EVERYTHING he says is shallow, scripted and basically from the mouth of Hearn or one of his PR handlers. EVERYTHING he has done has been a carefully calculated to generate the best PR, often in the form of some liberal """statement""" of some kind or another; watered-down, sanitised, and meaningless. It has always disgusted me. That speech last night was authentic. Incoherent, rambling, emotional, uncontrolled, but authentic. And it's the most I've actually liked AJ in his whole career.
