From World Boxing News: https://www.*****.net/2019/10/02/ba...mario-barrios-rematch-team-cry-clear-robbery/ “I worked my whole life to become a world champion and when the opportunity came I clearly won the fight,” said the 28-year-old Akhmedov. “I dominated the fight from start to finish, re-watch the tape as I have and see how bad Barrios was hurt in every round. After the tenth round he wanted to quit he was so badly beaten. I don’t even think the judges watched the fight.” Stated manager Vadim Kornilov, “This is the height of incompetence, these judges needed to be immediately held responsible to the full extent permitted. They stole the world title from Batyr. Look at the photos from the fight and after the fight, Barrios did not win that fight and his whole team didn’t even expect to get their hand raised. Barrios is suspended and cannot enter the ring for the next six months, how is he going to defend his championship? He cannot fight for medicals reasons due to injuries suffered in the fight and Batyr could fight next month if the opportunity was given.” .....“We will go ahead with filing an appeal with the World Boxing Association and requesting an immediate rematch. Batyr did what we expected he would do since this fight was ordered a year ago by the WBA for the mandatory position. If Batyr was getting beat up as bad as Barrios and had such a significant injury which looked like a cheekbone fracture which can cause damage to the eye socket, the fight would have been stopped.” While I'm not sure about the extent of Barrios' injuries (the cheekbone thing would explain why Barrios all but quit), most of this is self-evident. Boxing being boxing, the judges are not going to be held accountable... But I'm glad they're making noise and hope they talk enough **** to guarantee a rematch or get Barrios stripped. Next time, it's gonna be personal....
I was there, the whole arena was booing the decision, keep in mind, Barrios is US fighter.. just says a lot the US fans would boo their own for the sake of a fair score.
Neither the first nor the last robbery on the planet. They fought a guy who is promoted by PBC on a PBC event. And their man got knocked down twice in the fight which is already a 4pt margin by any means. Give Barrios 2-3 more rounds which is definitely possible as there were 2-3 close rounds, then you've got a result like 114-112. End of story. I gave Barrios R1-4 including a 10-8 in R4 + a 10-8 in R12.
Here's my scorecard FWIW R1: 10-9 Barrios R2: 10-9 Barrios R3: 10-9 Barrios R4: 10-8 Barrios R5: 10-9 Akhmedov R6: 10-9 Akhmedov R7: 10-9 Akhmedov R8: 10-9 Akhmedov R9: 10-9 Akhmedov R10: 10-9 Akhmedov R11: 10-9 Akhmedov R12: 10-8 Barrios 113-113 draw
Exactly how I had it. The math favoured Barrios.. the fight itself not..he was getting beat up bad, body and head.
I had it a draw after the KD in the last 15 seconds of the fight. If he didn't get knocked down, he would have had a case since it's clear Barrios was going to the get the decision no matter what. With the KD, his case is considerably weaker.
The general consensus from what I aka Serge have subsequently seen with thine own eyes seems to be that Akhmedov was robbed of a victory or at worst deserved a draw.
these are the worst imo as you're scratching your head where they find the extra point from,i.e. Ward v kovalev.
It was a close fight. The fact that he’s stating he won every round shows disturbing signs of desperation. Either way, he’s not going far with his protest.
I would have to say PBC scoring is the worst. Of course there's so many blatant robberies on a regular basis everywhere but for me, it's the worst. I have the philosophy that if you get knocked down it should be a 10-8 round, even if you get up and batter your opponent from pillar to post for the remainder of that round. I just think knock downs are such a big deal and whoever goes down should be penalized. However I would be in a very small minority and I would have thought that Ahkmedov clearly won that last round and perhaps a judge or two may have made it only a 10-9 for Barrios. Ahkmedov was definitely ripped off of at least a draw, I reckon he should have got the nod personally.
Two of the judges scored it 116-111 and 115-111 respectively Akhmedov held a 238 to 135 advantage in punches landed The California State Athletic Commission were so disgusted by the decision they decided to hit Barrios ie. the winner with four suspensions whereas Akhmedov only received one This content is protected
What does the Russian expect in the North American Boxing Establishment? Fair judging? Bwaaaahaaaahaaaahaaaa!!. Didn't he watch GGG vs Clenelo? GGG wins 116-112 on almost every card in the objective boxing world as an average and he gets a draw. Fury beats Wilder 10 rounds to 2 but gets dropped in 2 rounds and gets a draw. This Russian gets dropped in 2 different rounds and loses a decision to a chicano in chicanoland. What was he expecting to happen?
Here' my scorecard. Round 1 Akhmedov 10-9, close Round 2 Barrios 10-9, close Round 3 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 4 Barrios 10-8 Round 5 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 6 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 7 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 8 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 9 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 10 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 11 Akhmedov 10-9 Round 12 Barrios 10-8 115-111 Akhmedov 114-112 BA or 113-113 is fine as well. Barrios did not win this match.
Lol...funny stuff. He was actually medically suspended for those that are uninformed. I had Akhmedov winning by the skin of his teeth. Cards were crap
