It's more true than not unfortunately. It's tough for the Eastern European fighters to catch a break in the US.
I scored it to Barrios by the skin of his teeth. The KD basically winning him the fight for me. Scored it the other way? Cool. I don't see a robbery in terms of result though.
Had it 113-113, so Akhmedov wasn't "robbed" in my eyes as he didn't deserve a victory, but Barrios didn't deserve the win either...run it back damnit!
Even though I thought Akhmedov won the fight, I still think he's been moved a bit too fast. He was one of the fighters who really caught my eye in the 2016 Olympics and I remember thinking at at the time that his style was tailor-made for the pros. However, he didn't even take up boxing until he was 18 and his handlers throwing him in against the likes of Barraso and Barrios in his first 8 fights has been risky because both those guys can really crack. Akmedov would've stopped Barrios with one or two more bouts worth of experience under his belt IMO. Akhmedov fought 33-10-3 Ricky Sismundo in just his third pro fight too. 'Born in Uzbekistan and residing in Russia, Akhmedov (7-0, 6KOs) represented Turkey at the 2016 Olympic games. The 28-year-old turned pro in 2017 and is unbeaten with knockouts in all but one of his first seven fights. He made his U.S. debut last April, before stopping Ismael Barroso in August, prior to his two most recent triumphs this year. "I am the eighth child in my family and we had a very difficult and poor upbringing so I know what it means to persevere during hard times,'' said Akhmedov. "I only started boxing when I was 18 years old. I spent about four hours a day on the road to get to and from the gym. I really love this sport. I know what it means when people tell me that I won't be able to achieve something. This content is protected I very much doubt Barrios is going to relish the prospect of running it back again with Akhmedov because he took a beating as soon as the later managed to find his distance and overcome the problems Barrios' range was giving him in the first 4 rounds.
Akhmedov was robbed again tonight. USA is the worst country in the world for robberies and gift decisions.
I picked Puello and the only one in the top 10 pick him in the league. Stuck to my gun. But indeed it is not a robbery.. bad wide scores maybe. I had it 6-5 Puello going into the 12. And round 12 was actually very close as well. I will have no problem if it was 115-113 x3 for akhmedov.
Which is precisely why it was a robbery, since his body shots were literally the indisputably dominant punch of the fight.
