    What's the Classic forums thoughts on this Japanese champion? A fighter known for his bravery and action style that made him an exciting fighter to watch in the lower weight class. Became world champ in 3 weight classes when he fought at 105 to 112. An aggressive fighter with a heart of a samurai and fast hands speed as his nickname suggests. His notable fights were against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Pornsawan Porpramook, Kazuto Ioka, Toshiyuki Igarashi, Edgar Sosa, Roman Gonzalez, Pedro Guevara, Moruti Mthlane. Afterwards he retired in 2020.

    I absolutely loved this guy, he was maybe my favourite of all the Japanese champs I followed, and it didn't seem necessary for him to win for me to delight in him. His destruction at the hands of Gonzalez was absolutely inevitable but somehow didn't feel like a failure. Unique.

    Tremendous action fighter and always a fun watch. Loved his fight against Ioka. He would probably have a case for the HOF if the tissue around his eyes never betrayed him in pretty much every single fight of his, he was incredibly talented.

    Akira Yaegashi's fights with Pornsawan Porpramook and Kazuto Ioka are brilliant. Can't help but make the comparison to his compatriot Joichiro Tatsuyoshi. God bless Japanese boxers.
