I am beginning to regret not placing any real cash (just v-Cash) on Yaegashi, who somehow ended up a 5/4 underdog...

    Round 6

Yaegashi is dancing quickly around Sosa, cutting wide hemispherical swaths around him and tossing in jabs on the face. Sosa marches him down and forces him to stand and trade with big powerful left hooks. Yaegashi hooks right back at him, both getting cracked with some hellish power. Huge overhand right below the eye by Sosa. 1-2 by Yaegashi, dancing to his right after scoring. Lateral skips by Sosa to cut off Yaegashi's circuitous route. Lunging 1-2 by Sosa, picked off on the gloves of Yaegashi.

    10-9 Sosa

    58-56 Yaegashi

Nice round for Sosa. Right hand is really starting to find its mark

    Round 7

Yaegashi is dashing in with a 1-2 on the belt line. Sosa is coming straight at him with the long right hand up top and some fishing body combos. HUGE COMBINATION by Yaegashi, chopping left hook and right uppercut on the jaw as Sosa leans in. Sosa now drums a pair off Yaegashi's face!!! 1-2 by Sosa, too widely spread to hit the mark and leaving him open to a hard straight counter from Yaegashi. Sosa is hooking up high, caught on the left arm of Yaegashi. Sosa walks Yaegashi into the ropes, where Yaegashi crouches and then buys freedom with a flush left hook. Sosa is throwing his 1-2 hard stepping forward but Yaegashi is landing counter jabs and hooks while circling either way.

10-9 Yaegashi but Sosa is slow-pressuring like a boss.

    68-65 Yaegashi

    Round 8

Yaegashi is tagged by a long overhand right from Sosa. Yaegashi is circling to his right, well outside, not throwing anything. Sosa comes in low, firing a straight right on the waist. Another body shot and Sosa brings the overhand right to bear as Yaegashi languishes on the ropes a moment. Yaegashi is circling and pushing out his jab. Sosa knocks it aside with his own double jab and lands a right on the body. Sosa gets inside and Yaegashi chops down at him with a combination in an exchange. Brief clinch. Ref barks to let go. Sosa jabs Yaegashi in the forehead. Yaegashi's movement has slowed considerably. Sosa is tossing up right hands at the head and brewing extended combinations from head down to body and back.

    10-9 Sosa, a hound with a scent...

    77-75 Yaegashi

Yeah he's kinda clawing his way back in - let's see rnd 8 scores - it might be too late for him to win on points tho.

    WBC open scoring through eight:

    79-73
    80-72
    77-75

    all three for Akira Yaegashi

Shutout? Even the 7-1 card seems disingenuous to me...

It most certainly is. :-( I like Yaegashi but his scores were filled in before the ring walks, apparently. All he needs to do is not get KTFO by that OHR.

Sosa is looking the much fresher man during the breaks...

    Round 9

Yaegashi is leaning forward and holding now as opposed to moving, hooking with Sosa and getting the worst of it and having to clasp on tight. Sosa is whipping in powerful body shots and backing Yaegashi up. Yaegashi will occasionally push off for a second and land a nice hook before clamping down on Sosa again, but he is getting manhandled on the inside and losing all the exchanges.

    10-9 Sosa

    86-85 Yaegashi

I think this is an excellent example of the BENEFIT of the WBC's open scoring system. Sosa and his team might reasonably have expected he was close on the scorecards through 8 rounds, with a chance at a decision win. Now, with the open scoring, they know that they definitely need a stoppage to win, as there is zero chance they will win a decision. Shame on those judges. Bizarre too, coming so soon after a Kameda brother lost a decision in Japan!!!

    Round 10

Yaegashi is finding his rhythm again on the outside, and the buoyancy in his legs. Yaegashi is making the most of his second wind, bouncing around Sosa and dropping in point-scoring jabs and rights while avoiding prolonged conflict. Sosa is forced to resume stalking with the overhand right and falling short with it. Yaegashi is darting in and out, rolling his ankles, catching Sosa's overhand right on the tips of his gloves. HUGE counter right hand by Yaegashi as Sosa leans inward fishing for a body punch. Sosa down a moment later whirling to face up to Yaegashi, slip. Light counters on the outside by Yaegashi. Sosa marches him down and shoeshines the body. Counter right by Yaegashi.

    10-9 Yaegashi

    96-94 Yaegashi
