Now that is how a champion regains momentum and stakes his claim to his property to kick off championship rounds. :deal The question is, does Akira have another six minutes of that left in him? :think
Yeah, but the worst Kameda brother, and it would've been the worst decision in the family's history if Liborio had been screwed.
Yeah he is hardly nimble or fleet of foot. He epitomizes "slow and steady, timing and power executed optimally..."
Round 11 Yaegashi is luring Sosa into each set of ropes by turn, chancing getting caught with the odd right hand but landing sequences of jabs and uppercuts on the face of Sosa repeatedly. Yaegashi is moving, moving, moving. Sosa is unable to skewer him on the ropes with his right hand, only grazing with it and walking into three and four punch combos while Yaegashi escapes. 10-9 Yaegashi 106-103 Yaegashi
Round 12 Yaegashi is landing jabs on the brow of Sosa and flinching straight back to make Sosa miss his right hand. Yaegashi is circling on the balls of his feet and pulling his face back quickly to make Sosa's jab fail by centimeters. Yaegashi is boxing Sosa's ears off from outside. SOSA gets in close and hooks Yaegashi in the face, rocking him. Yaegashi trades with him inside!! 1-2 by Sosa. Yaegashi catches a right hand on the cheek, bypassing his upheld arms. Yaegashi is flurrying straight out at Sosa while getting clubbed! 10-9 Sosa, stole this one and perhaps nearly pulled off the KO he needed... 115-113 Yaegashi
Tear up in 12, credit to Yaegashi though, he coulda just keep on using his movement knowing Sosa would have to leave himself open looking for the KO.
Official cards: Steve Morrow 116-112 Oren Shellenberger 117-111 Joel Scobie 117-111 UD for Akira Yaegashi
I think he was trying for that in the first minute or so but Sosa was like " uh-uh, you aren't getting off that easy, boy, we're fighting... :bbb"
Who the hell decided Akira should be holding an INFANT right now?!?!? atsch I am seriously horrified by that. With all the hard shots he ate from Sosa, his bell is too rung for him to clutching a baby in one arm (with his big green belt digging into the poor thing's spine, no less) Someone grab that poor kid from him before something terrible happens. :-(

It looks like the three official judges all gave Sosa the majority of rounds 9-12, since the final scores were closer than they were after 8 rounds. To me, this was a close competitive fight, and the open scores after 8 rounds were nothing short of scandalous. I think these three judges gave Yaegashi the rounds he needed for the decision early on, then decided to make the scores look more respectable after the decision was a foregone conclusion. Not saying Yaegashi didn't deserve the decision, but it was a genuinely close fight, which unfortunately was not at all reflected in the official scores.
