Yeah, he definitely absorbed some punishment on the way up.

What injury did he sustain against Eagle?

Have to wonder if Akira could put in a hard nosed performance and knick a decision like Kimura did against Pedro Guevara...

    From Wiki-
In his first world title shot against the WBC minimumweight champion Eagle Kyowa at the Pacifico Yokohama in June 2007, Yaegashi lost for the first time by a wide points margin after suffering a broken TMJ[1] in two places due to an accidental headbutt in the second round.[4]

Now remember that bout went 12 with Yaegashi having a double broken jaw...hey Victor, a lil Japanese chap has ***** bigger than your head...

Mendoza 'struggled' against Melindo because Melindo's a really good boxer, slick defence, sharp puncher. He did outbox Estrada through half their fight. But he couldn't take the pressure when Mendoza started putting combos together. And Yaegashi even if he tries to move will be easier to find. It'll be a good fight, but as the rounds go by and Mendoza starts crowding Yaegashi and landing, especially to the body, he'll take over, even if Yaegashi's toughness keeps him in the fight. I'll take him by UD or late stoppage, even at 1/2.

Great posts so far, I appreciate it.

I'm favoring Mendoza here as well. The nearly 10 year age advantage alone here is going to be hard to beat, unless Mendoza has a serious durability or stamina issue that rears it's ugly head.

Also, what time will this fight start? Trying to figure out if I can force myself to be up at 5 or 6 AM to watch it.

    Anyone watching this? Updates?

I'm reading Erik Morales tweets in Spanish and having them crudely translated in Twitter, not the best experience...
